Sitting at 11-10 in the conference with 9 games left (at UGA, UTjr, @UK), we probably need to go 6-3 or maybe even 7-2 to be in the conversation for a National seed but I don’t think any of us feels like it’s even possible.

It is wild what locating one pitch an inch better would make everyone feel but here we are.

My prediction is 3-6 down the stretch and not hosting a regional. I’d love to believe we can do better but I think it’s more likely we do worse than better.

What do you think happens?

Cornell grad. PWO for Vandy. Looks like he'll be a blocking tight end for the Commodores. Only had 7 catches for 76 yards this past season. Does hold the Cornell record for blocked extra point attempts with seven.

I think I'm excited for the football season. And the basketball season. Or maybe I'm not.

When I go to the first game this season, and I look at the players, I won't recognize most of them. I don't know who's granddad went to Vanderbilt and who is the first in his family to go to college. I don't know who get 1600 on the SATs or who is a talented DJ on the side. I will need a chart of players and numbers at all times. I won't know who is having an off night and who I should really be excited about. To me, with the exception of a few returnees like Langston Patterson and CJ Taylor we have anonymous teams of rent-a-players. I hope i will learn to love them. Especially the ones with more than a year of eligibility left. But now--and I consider myself a big fan--it's going to be really hard this year to have the same love for the individual players that I've had in the past.

I love that we've been topgrading the roster. And with wins, all things are possible. But right now. I'd excited about the team's potential.. and just 'meh' on the seeming anonymity of many of the individual players.

A suggestion? Vandy media should start doing full profiles--couple pages each with pictures and bios and Q&A re: each transfer from the portal

Vandy offered back in December and he visited, ended up at UAB, now back in the portal.

Don’t know if the Commodores would be interested again with Dariyan Wiley starting his visit tomorrow.

Had 62 catches for 1,037 yards and five scores

After two torrid weeks of rumors and visits and signings and roster building everything seems to have come to a screeching halt.

I’m sure a lot is happening behind the scenes to fill out the last couple of spots on the roster but the silence truly is jarring.

I’m desperate for any credible rumors, whispers, wink-wink-nudge-nudges. These last spots are huge as we still have pretty major needs to address. Anybody got anything?

VU tumbles all the way to 17. Miss ST enters at #16. Georgia is up to 19.

Alex Bailey had an in-home with Wiley last week. He told me he's planning to visit Vanderbilt at the end of this week. Already visited Houston this past weekend. Had 24 catches for 400 yards while averaging 16.7 yards per catch for Louisiana-Monroe last season. Transferred to Nevada in January and re-entered the portal earlier this month.

while making contact at the plate this past weekend? That's right. He broke an aluminum bat. Sawed off the top 2/3 cleanly above the handle. How does that even happen unless the structure was weakened by being tampered with?
