Edwards and Hoggard are (understandably) getting and going to continue to get all the pub and are seemingly the only guys on the national radar. We know we've got a few guys that are going to surprise the pundits and certainly at least a couple that are even going to surprise this board. Who on this roster is going to end up outplaying the lack of chatter/expectations most significantly? Maybe its a 5th or 6th guy that ends up giving us 11/7 a night or a perceived 10th option that ends up at 7 pts a game. Which '24/'25 Commodore surprises the most?

D1 Baseball Latest Projection

Has Vandy as one of the Last 4 teams in. So basically, if we lose to Florida tomorrow, they think Vandy's probably out. It seems to me like they think the committees going to look for a reason not to put 11 SEC teams in the field, which might be right? Who knows? I think it just boils down to how heavily they weight the RPI. The other 3 teams in the Last 4 In are Coastal Carolina (RPI 35), UNCW (48) and Troy (54). Vandy is 26. So if they go by RPI, Vandy should be way ahead of those 3 teams.

I'm also not sure I agree with putting Vandy behind LSU and Florida. Resumes seem pretty similar, and Vandy has the H2H over both of them (though they would lose it against UF with a loss tomorrow).

"Seems some level of entitlement and complacency has taken root in the program"

Oh, sorry, I guess this is a Vanderbilt forum. I was just enjoying a little Schaden-flor-duh.

It's nice to hear narratives about complacent coaches who the game is passing by, and have it not be about Vanderbilt. All because of a crapshooty 6-3 win which makes it so much sweeter!

House V. NCAA

Has everyone seen what’s being reported as the settlement deal? It seems like the big boys are going to have to put $20m per year up as athletic player compensation. The details are sketchy at best as to how this would be divided between sports especially with Title ix out there. If it goes ahead Vandy will have to go along with the big fish or risk being relegated to the second tier.
Incidentally I don’t know how a university can directly pay a player and not have them deemed an employee. It would be hard to maintain that someone under as much control as an athlete is just an independent contractor.

She's Ba-a-ck!!!!

Just watching a nationally broadcast talk show and a segment about a KC sportswriter calling for the Chiefs to replace their kicker with a female kicker. Sarah Fuller was mentioned by name but there was no mention of the college she attended. I thought we might skate on this one but then they showed a clip of her kicking off and a wonderful closeup of her in her Vanderbilt jersey. I guess we are stuck with this for good.
