We got ahead. Blew the lead. Came back and won. Had players step up and make big plays. Being able to do this comes from confidence, in yourself and your teammates.
And, it reminds me somewhat of the 2011 game against UConn. No one knew what we had in Franklin's second game, we were so used to losing. That team should have lost that UConn game. Most Vanderbilt teams in my life would have lost that game. But, they didn't. They had something called confidence, and it started the first of three straight bowl games.
This game had a similar feel. We blew the lead. It felt like we blew the game, but, we didn't.
Pavia made plays. Defenders made plays. And, we came back and won.
Now, I'm not predicting three straight bowl games. But, as long as this offensive staff and strength coach stays here, Saturdays aren't going to be guaranteed losses either.
It was a great day, a big win. Enjoy it, Commodore family, we damn sure deserve it.
