FB Recruiting Stephen Decatur (MD) 2024 WR Brycen Coleman details Vandy offer

The 6-foot-5, 191-pound wide receiver spoke with VandySportsDotCom about how it felt to land an SEC opportunity from Vanderbilt and detailed how long the Commodores have been involved in his recruitment.

"It felt awesome, the fact that they were the first Power 5 offer for me meant a lot," Coleman said. "They started recruiting me about three weeks before the offer and I was in contact with the coaches a little bit until they called to offer me. Now I’ve been communicating with them a lot."

Coleman said that during his recruitment process with the Commodores, he's connected with Vanderbilt associate head coach, special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Justin Lustig, analyst Brendan Flaherty and quality control coach Kirk Garner.

"Coach Lustig was the first coach to reach out to me and talk to me," Coleman said. "He was also the coach who offered me. After that, Coach Flaherty and Coach Kirk reached out to me and started talking to me. My favorite thing about them was they were all about me and about Vanderbilt. They wanted to know about my family and I. I felt like building that bond and getting to know each other was a big thing for me. We also talked about what they do on offense and where they saw me fitting in on their offense."

Coleman said that the Commodores are recruiting him as a tight end because it would give Vanderbilt's offense a huge advantage/.

"They are recruiting me as a tight end," Coleman said. "That will give them many advantages on offense. I am very excited to get down to campus and meet the rest of the coaching staff."

In addition to the SEC opportunity from Vanderbilt, Coleman has collected offers from Akron, Boston College, Campbell and James Madison. He's also garnered the interest of Virginia Tech.

Other Sports Wow ! Shea Ralph is intense.

You’d think she’d be happy after an 84 to 48 36 point Beatdown of Tarleton state. In her post game press conference though, she was royally ticked and went on a 3 1/2 minute rant in a 5 1/2 minute post game press conference . She was angry at our apparent lack of intensity to start games. “Bare minimum - BARE MINIMUM - you show up. “ You play hard to start the game and for the whole game. She called them out and said she couldn’t wait until practice today to address it. I would not want to be a Vanderbilt women’s basketball player today.

Basketball Men's Basketball - Holiday Tournament

Perhaps, we can catch the Gaels by "surprise" (although I admit that St. Mary's will be a tough out even though we have a long ago pretty good track record against this WCC opponent) since this writer does not even mention the Dores (Posted today on ESPN at 11 AM so probably the write-up was done prior to the Temple game):

Johnson is the Gaels best player, 3 of the 4 other starters played meaningful minutes last year, although primarily from off the bench. St. Mary's is 3-0 beating ORU (with Isaac McBride), North Texas and Vermont . . . the win over the Catamounts by 26 is impressive as Vermont is always a well-coached team.

Paycom Wooden Legacy

Dates: Nov. 23-24

Site: Anaheim Convention Center Arena, Anaheim, California

First-round matchups:

Fresno State Bulldogs vs. Washington Huskies
Saint Mary's Gaels vs. Vanderbilt Commodores

Team to beat: Saint Mary's got a boost in April when Logan Johnson (10.7 PPG) announced that he would return for a fifth year, after leading the program to the second round of the NCAA tournament. Yes, the Gaels lost Tommy Kuhse and other standouts, but Randy Bennett's track record suggests that the team will be competitive in the West Coast Conference again.

Sleeper team: Mike Hopkins has not accrued the momentum many had anticipated when he arrived at Washington, following his role as a Syracuse assistant, but transfers Keion Brooks Jr. (Kentucky) and Noah Williams (Washington State) hope to give the Huskies a chance to be competitive this season.

Player to watch: Brooks struggled to find his way at Kentucky, where he averaged 10.8 PPG last season. A fresh start in Seattle could help him showcase his potential.

Something for the college hoops junkies: Since the 2007-08 campaign, Randy Bennett's Saint Mary's squads have finished with at least 25 wins 11 times.

Basketball So, we won.....how?

I actually got tied up at work, and got pissed off about it. In the process of being pissed off, I literally forgot about the game.

@Friedas_Boss or @papahick4VU, or any other big hoops guy, what did I miss?

How did we score 89 points? How did they get Robbins to stay down low and play like a 7 footer. How did Manjon look? Who the hell is Miles Kefee, and why did he play at all, and Smith and Thomas didn't play at all.

I'm happy as hell we won, just wondering where this team was in the first two games?

Basketball Question about this hoops team

Last night is what I think most of us hoped for in this team. Manjon penetrating and dishing, Robbins being dominant down low, Stute busting threes in peoples faces, Wright doing a little bit of everything.

My question is, especially with this many upperclassmen, why in the hell did it take going 0-2 before they decided to play basketball?

Last night's effort in all 3 games, we are 2-1 at the worst. Memphis may still have beaten us (who knows, they lost to St.Louis the other night), but last night's effort is what I think we were all expecting this year.

Hopefully, we get this type of effort from here on. Anchor Down!⚓️👇

Audio PODCAST: Vandy snaps an SEC losing streak (and provides hope)

Behind SEC offensive Player of the Week Mike Wright, Vanderbilt pulled out a 24-21 victory at Kentucky, snapping a 26-game SEC winning streak. Perhaps more importantly, the Commodores could bring back most of the players who made it happen. Luke Wyatt provides perspective on a 24-21 win over 23rd-ranked Kentucky. Also, the basketball team suffered an awful loss to Southern Miss that exposed a lot of concerns.

(An earlier version of this didn't work, this one does.)

Football Shoutout Pete Rossomando

Obviously Blazek deserves so much credit with his work with the o-line so far. But Rossomando 100 percent deserves some credit for bringing in a really solid OL group in his only year here. Castillo and Hansen are legit starters and Ketschek and Pitchford are solid backups. Probably the best O-line class in a long time in terms of number of guys that will contribute
