Stephen Decatur (MD) 2024 WR Brycen Coleman picked up an SEC offer from Vanderbilt on Wednesday, Nov. 9, announcing the opportunity from the Commodores over social media.

The 6-foot-5, 191-pound wide receiver spoke with VandySportsDotCom about how it felt to land an SEC opportunity from Vanderbilt and detailed how long the Commodores have been involved in his recruitment.

"It felt awesome, the fact that they were the first Power 5 offer for me meant a lot," Coleman said. "They started recruiting me about three weeks before the offer and I was in contact with the coaches a little bit until they called to offer me. Now I’ve been communicating with them a lot."

Coleman said that during his recruitment process with the Commodores, he's connected with Vanderbilt associate head coach, special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Justin Lustig, analyst Brendan Flaherty and quality control coach Kirk Garner.

"Coach Lustig was the first coach to reach out to me and talk to me," Coleman said. "He was also the coach who offered me. After that, Coach Flaherty and Coach Kirk reached out to me and started talking to me. My favorite thing about them was they were all about me and about Vanderbilt. They wanted to know about my family and I. I felt like building that bond and getting to know each other was a big thing for me. We also talked about what they do on offense and where they saw me fitting in on their offense."

Coleman said that the Commodores are recruiting him as a tight end because it would give Vanderbilt's offense a huge advantage/.

"They are recruiting me as a tight end," Coleman said. "That will give them many advantages on offense. I am very excited to get down to campus and meet the rest of the coaching staff."

In addition to the SEC opportunity from Vanderbilt, Coleman has collected offers from Akron, Boston College, Campbell and James Madison. He's also garnered the interest of Virginia Tech.
