If you were confused about how the Florida game ended, Andrew Allegretta says you weren't the only one. That, some big things from the Florida game, a spirited week of practice, the potential return of AJ Swann and the matchup ahead with Tennessee are all discussed on today's show.

Im back fellas!

Gents I am back from my year in Germany. Sadly the internet there blocked rivals so I wasnt able to keep up with you fellas and all of your shenanigans! Germany was awesome, just wish someone woulda told me a war was going to happen! I got to visit Bastogne Belgium (big BoB fan, sat in the Easy Company foxholes), Paris, Normandy, Berlin, Rome, The Netherlands, Salzburg Austria where I visited Hitlers Eagles Nest, all in all a pretty good tour of duty.

Holy sh%t what was happened?? We are 5-6 and playing for a bowl game? Beat a ranked UK on the road, knocked off Florida, and now UT is down their heisman QB and we are about to throw down with those ass clowns from Knoxville? What a time to come back! BTW we are 2-0 since I got back to Alabama. You are welcome .

Anyone got an extra ticket for Saturday?

Offense vs Defense

Stackhouse has made it a point to try to build around defense. The issue is that good offense simply beats good defense. St Mary’s just screened and passed us to death. They are disciplined, have good shooters and simply got off easy shots at will the entire game. I don’t like stack’s recipe for success and am still unsure why he got an extension.

St. Mary's Game (Is it a Wednesday or Thursday Tilt . . . Depends on Where You Live, I Guess)

I hate West Coast holiday tournament basketball. The game is scheduled to start at 8:59 PM tomorrow night, however, it could tip-off even later if the first game runs long. For the record, 11:59 EST is too late for me, unfortunately. Now, with that off my chest . . . .

Here are a few questions (admittedly some of them are rhetorical and others satirical):

  • Will Randy Bennett use his 20 + years of coaching St. Mary's and run circles around Stackhouse? Yes
  • Will Ezra Manjon be so excited getting back to the West Coast that he speeds his game up too much to the tune of 7 or 8 turnovers? Yes (although I understand he was sick)
  • Will the "real" Tyrin Lawrence reappear, e.g., not the good one, following his best game as a Dore? Meh because of his defense
  • Will Myles Stute be psyched out by the cavernous sight lines in an almost empty arena and go 0-8 from "3"? No
  • Will Jordan Wright play like a mature, experienced senior or revert back to a level of play shown across games 1 and 2 of this year? Mature and Experienced
  • Will Liam Robbins stay anchored (pun intended) on the offensive end of the floor no more than 5 feet from the basket and not hack away at the defensive end of the floor albeit 20 feet from the basket? Yes
  • Will we miss Trey Thomas' ball handling and defensive prowess more than we ever imagined? No Response
  • Will all of our frosh hyperventilate from their first tourney experience and go a collective 1 for 14 from the floor with 7 turnovers and 2 rebounds? Wow, did I partially nail this one . . . 0 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist across 22 minutes and, in contrast, look at the performance of St. Mary's freshman guard with 20 points (Composite 4 Star player but listed at 6'2" and 150 pounds; only Power school offer was Stanford as I might guess the 150 pounds scared people plus he played at a high school in Moraga)
  • Will St. Mary's get revenge for Jeff Taylor's monster dunks in their gym in Moraga? (Of course, I doubt the players even know who Jeff is.) Yes
  • Will St. Mary's frustrate the Dores with their precise running of offensive sets? Yes, and, in particular, can someone learn how to defend the pick and roll
  • Will the Dores "go too fast" to make up for the "slow paced" Gaels style of play and force up enough bricks to rebuild a Vandy dorm complex? In the first half . . . Yes
  • Will St. Mary's win by their average margin of 20 + points just because we are just another out of conference foe to feast on over Thanksgiving? No . . . only half-way to a 20 point win

Hoops Recruiting Vandy commit JaQualon Roberts had a big night

JQ Roberts put together a 31 point performance tonight and hit a game winner in Bloomington North’s 57-55 win.

Roberts’ competition level is obviously far from what he’ll see at Vandy so take it with a grain of salt, but it is encouraging to see a big scoring night from someone who I think could be a bit far away offensively. Will try to find some full games this season so I can get more of a read on his development offensively.

UT drops to #10 CFP

Frankly thought they should drop behind the other 2-loss teams like Penn State etc. Regardless they are having to shift their focus to playing for a possible CFP berth to which bowl game. Sugar Bowl not an option as only one of the three SEC teams ahead of UT are something of a lock for the CFP. LSU and Alabama will finish ahead of UT. So they are literally playing for the Citrus, Outback etc.

APR Watch Schedule

Here's the APR list with game times and tv coverage. All the teams below Vanderbilt need to lose for Vandy to get a bowl bid at 5 - 7. Looks like we just need to beat Tennessee. We've done it before to get a bowl bid.
