Basketball 68 and 13

Well, well, looky here. Our starters last night (QMB, TT, Smith, Lawrence, and Stute) had a COMBINED 13 points, out of our 68 total points.

13 points. By our starters. Is embarrassing.

If Stack has any hope of being back next year (and I definitely DON'T want him back), then he needs to play the young, more talented players more. QMB and TT should only get minutes over Dort and Shelby in a foul trouble situation. Neither are SEC players. I'm not sure Dort and Shelby are yet, either, but they show some promise. We know what TT and QMB are.

Basketball Who makes hiring and firing decisions at VU?

There seems to be some confusion as to who is actually hiring and firing coaches at VU. Nobody cares about sports not named football and men’s basketball, so I assume Candice hires and fires all non revenue sports. For the two revenue generating sports, my guess is that Candice has input but has no true decision making power yet I see fans all the time on here blaming her or giving her credit.

So, who at VU will make the call on whether to fire Jerry Stackhouse at the end of this year?

The Board?
The Chancellor?
@Southernpipe and other influential donors?
Candice Storey Lee?

What do y’all think? This always seems to be a *hide the blame shell game* at Vanderbilt.

I’d love to hear what @Chris Lee thinks here too.

Thanks in advance.

Basketball UTjr looking to make it 11 straight tonight

That's embarrassing as hell. It's one thing for them to dominate us in football, but basketball should be a different story.

Yes, I'm aware of UTjr's history in basketball, it's better than ours. But, the difference isn't near as big as it is in football.

This next basketball hire is going to be huge, because we can't let this continue.

Football CFP Final: TCU vs UGA

Who are you rooting for? I'm past the point of rooting for the ESS-EEE-CEE just because of conference affiliation. The reputation of the SEC is secure so another Dawgs win does nothing to further the ability of my school to win. Frankly, the SEVmC has cut us the checks for the TV money but that's it. When we had the greatest season we've ever had in 2012, we should have gone to the Chik FIL A Bowl but the SEC let someone else go instead. So they don't care about us. And idon't care about them.

Audio PODCAST: Luke Wyatt's view of the last 20 years of Vanderbilt athletics

VandySports turns 20 this week, and former Vanderbilt athletics employee Lee Wyatt gives us a behind-the-scenes look of what went on inside the athletic department over many key events during that time. Luke also offers insights into some of the best and worst things that happened during those two decades. Topics include the athletics restructuring, the fallout from the Gillette Hall scandal, the best home football atmospheres during the decade, why Gordon Gee's staying at Vanderbilt might have prevented athletics decay and more.

Off topic Podcast idea

First off, I love the podcasts. @Chris Lee has outstanding guests and the whole thing is really well done and a great listen.

Before the mailbag, I think you guys should spend 15 minutes breaking down posts, individual posters, and some topics going on in the war room.

I would envision it something along the lines of a new poster shows up, and you and Luke either talk shit about said poster or talk about what excellent topics he/she/zir brings to the table. Or for example if @Friedas_Boss or @OriginalChiDore are being particularly bitchy you guys call them out. Or if you have to lock some threads or ban a sum bitch or two, that’s gets discussed as well. Ideally calling them out by username.

Thoughts?

Audio PODCAST: A win, a loss and a vanishing fan base

Vanderbilt's knack of playing everyone closely continues, as the Commodores beat South Carolina in overtime before losing by three at Missouri. The bigger topic, however, may be the shrinking fan base and what Jerry Stackhouse can, or can't do, about that. Chris Lee and Luke Wyatt discuss that and also answer listener questions.

Off topic Luke Wyatt

First off, I just listened to my first vs.com podcast and it was great. Kudos to @Chris Lee - I’ll listen to as many as I can moving forward.

Second, he spells out how I feel very well on Robbins Minutes Gate. The coaches know who the best players are, so what’s going on?

Luke is country as cornbread but very sharp. He’s a good listen for Vandy fans. Chris does a great job hosting too.
