I've felt the NCAAT was a long shot since the beginning of the season, but maybe an NIT bid was possible. Then, the Florida game make me believe they had a chance of NCAAT at-large bid, but only if they avoid bad losses the rest of the way. Well, the bad loss happened, and it's time to move on.
I still think they have a shot at the NIT, but they have a lot of work to do. Vandy better beat Florida and Miss St to finish the season with a winning record (17-14), and they probably need to win two games in the SECT if they can't beat UK on the road. If they beat UK, then one SECT win might get them in.
If you think I'm kidding, just remember Vandy's NET ranking was 87 BEFORE losing to #157 LSU. I won't be shocked if Vandy drops 8-9 spots after tomorrow. Last year, St Bonaventure was the last team to receive an NIT at-large and they had an #85 NET ranking. I found a short article that seems to indicate the committee pays a lot more attention to the NET rankings when selecting the at-large teams AND the seeding.
The NIT is still a possibility, but IMO, Vandy can only afford to lose to UK the rest of the way.
