Who provided the blueprint ???

Although I'm very disappointed in the results of the UK vs VU baseball games this weekend, I must admit that as a fan of the game overall; I see something very familiar going on. This UK team is like a mirror image of those great VandyBoys teams from 10 years ago.

My gosh, it's as if there's a decade old VandyBoys doppelganger dressed in blue up in Lexington. They are without question the most complete baseball team I've seen this year. They don't rely strictly on "gorilla ball" or questionable rolled bats. There's been NO rumors of that BS with this team. What I see is a dynamic and motivated head coach (who paid his dues), excellent recruiting (reflects positively on the coaching staff), more than adequate pitching, excellent hitting, moderate power hitting, brilliant base running (speed), players schooled in the tactics of "small ball", brotherhood in the dug out, DISCIPLIN, DETERMINATION, and DESIRE.

Tim Corbin provided the template, and the 2014 VandyBoys must have created the blueprints.

Maybe we need rethink, recycle, recreate, reincarnate, and/or resurrect OUR model of what college baseball is all about; or we turn "da cats" into the Honor Council for suspected plagiarism/copying.

I know everyone loathes the portal and NIL but…

This all couldn’t be a better situation for Vanderbilt - - football can finally revamp a roster in 1 offseason instead of a 4-yr graduation cycle. The players don’t care about any of the real and perceived shortcomings. The biggest strength of the school vs the rest of the SEC is $…this is now the #1 feature of the sport from a recruiting standpoint. This thing forced Vanderbilt’s hand and we will really and truly be able to compete now. It is so counterintuitive but so real.

OT - When can we get rid of umpires in baseball?

I’m normally pro humans vs machines but when it comes to balls and strikes, it’s pure idiocy to allow some of these people to impact the outcomes of games the way they do.

A for instance, that umpire just allowed 4 runs because he refused to call two consecutive strike 3’s strikes.

What are the odds of ever having automated balls and strikes being called. We have the technology, we have the money, why continue to let these guys have such influence over these games?

BB lineup for Sat. and SEC tourney

I don't know if it is worth rocking the boat at this point but---as for a lineup to finish the season: Vastine, Polk and Austin play. I'd play Hewitt but that is a personal preference probably as I like his demeanor and effort despite his strikeouts. As for the rest, without trying to assess any blame, I'd play anyone who has not played much at all or even someone who has not played at all. Same for pitchers. Pitching by committee. Anyone who hasn't pitched will pitch now. Anyone who has pitched very little but showed some sign of life will pitch now. This lineup has become a disaster. Let's make some changes. Not in the hope of turning anything around but in this case change for the sake of change may be a good thing.

Carson Fulmer

Being an NL guy this had escaped me, but Carson Fulmer has reinvented himself and is having a nice year out of the bullpen for the Angels.

Other Sports Blades Brown

I was told yesterday he was coming to Vandy by a UTjr booster who has been trying to court him to Knoxville. Blades already has a Callaway Golf deal and there will be an NIL bidding war for him between VU and UTjr. The UTjr. booster sounded defeated but said Blades is a great young man.

Take that fwiw but I was happy to hear that and although it may not happen, I have known this guy for 30 years and he’s trustworthy.
