Here is the press release the school just put out:

Online: https://vucommodores.com/applications-open-for-commodore-fan-council-2/

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt Athletics is now accepting applications from supporters interested in joining the Commodore Fan Council, a group that represents the “voice of the fan” as the department further engages Commodore Nation.

All interested Vanderbilt fans are encouraged to apply for membership on the Commodore Fan Council, now in its fourth year, by July 15. This position is a two-year commitment and will rotate on a staggered basis.

Council members will participate in quarterly meetings with members of the athletics staff and can express viewpoints, suggestions, and opinions with a focus on stakeholder engagement and fan experience. Everything from how Vanderbilt communicates with its fans to specific aspects of the game day experience will be included in discussions.

Basketball Some basketball scheduling notes

Think I can pretty much confirm that Citadel game being played. There's another buy game I have an idea of but need some more confirmation.

The schedule will likely be pretty buy game heavy, although they're gonna have the MTE, the VT game and Byington wants to get another Q1 game or two. Said his first priority is getting one at home.

This isn't coming from anything Byington said, moreso just putting pieces together, but look for the first few games to potentially be buy games because Hoggard could be out due to playing in the Portsmouth Invitational, they suspended guys for that last year but I wonder if they don't do the suspension this season because they deem it part of the predraft process. Something to watch.

Think Lipscomb wants to play but hasn't had much if any communication with Vanderbilt. Based on what Byington seems to want to schedule I don't think Vanderbilt would have interest in Lipscomb but I could be wrong. Guessing they don't play Belmont either. Maybe another local team, but not one in the city.

Top WBB recruit includes Vanderbilt in her final 12

Login to view embedded media Agot Makeer has included Vanderbilt in her Top 12. She’s the No. 6 player in the class of 2025.

While I normally don’t share recruits considering Vanderbilt, I felt the need to with this one. Shea Ralph and her staff have continued to go hard on the recruiting trail and are getting some of the best to consider Vanderbilt.

This season five-star freshman Mikayla Blakes will join the Commodores. She was the No. 8 player in last year’s class.

Vandy’s Veronica Fraley is in the Olympics

She qualified in the discus. Incredible.

Allyria McBride was 4th in the opening heat of 400mH and advances to the semifinals on Saturday night.

There were several other women and men who were competing for places on their nation’s teams. don’t know if anyone else made it for their respective countries.

Pretty incredible to see our Track and Field sending athletes at this level. Hearing great things about our coach. These results have to help with recruiting.

Basketball - "One-Off" Observation - Absence of Height at the Center Position - Florida Gators

If this freshman plays, our tallest player will be one foot shorter than this Gator player:

Of course, we don't know if Rioux will be the next version of Zach Edey (a Canadian comp) or more like Connor Vanover (an Arkansas comp . . . couldn't resist).

FB Recruiting ***OFFICIAL VISIT WEEKEND - JUNE 21ST***

Very light weekend as QB commit Jack Elliott is the only expected visitor for the Commodores. So, he gets to eat all the steak.

As it stands, Vanderbilt currently has 10 commitments in this year's class and it seems they'll take a very measured approach moving forward as they'll likely aim for a class of around 15 commits, roughly.

Of the official visitors this summer, the Commodores are still in the mix for OL Byron Nelson, who will be at North Carolina this weekend and has a Top 3 of Pitt, Vandy, and the Tar Heels.

I think the Commodores will also take cornerback Jayden Sanders, who was in last weekend along with Nelson. He will be at TCU this weekend. He has also taken officials to Oklahoma State and Baylor as well.

Obviously, they are still fighting to keep a trio of commitments in the class. Things seem to be trending in the right direction for Carson Lawrence, but he still could visit Virginia Tech this weekend. Three-star defensive back pledge Vanzale Hinton is taking a trip to Michigan State this weekend while linebacker commit Austin Howard just visited Ole Miss and is expected at Miss. State this weekend.

As for how the rest of the class could shake out. Would expect Vanderbilt to continue evaluating remaining targets that have offers throughout the fall and obviously, expect to see some new targets pop up as well.

7 Aggies have entered the portal since Tuesday.

At least 7 Aggies have entered the x-fer Portal since Tuesday. Vanderbilt should be heavy into recruiting outfielder Jace LaViolette. We need his kind of power bat, and we are short on quality outfielders too. Cavin Grahovac is another highly regarded outfielder. Kaeden Kent who played extremely well at the CWS is also in the portal.

Now I realize that some of these guys are probably following Schlossnagle to the socialist People's Republic Of Austin, but we need to get them to Nashville and save them from being lost forever at Oat Willie's. ONWARD THRU THE FOG !!!

Jaylen Carey Height Change

According to Mark Byington Jaylen Carey has grown to 6’9.5 and could get up to 6’10 by the season.

If this is true and Carey has the size of a legit SEC center this could be season changing. Carey’s skill and footwork have never been in question and if he maintains them at this new height then we could have a top 5-7 SEC center on this team. IMO this will be the factor that takes us over the top and makes us a tournament team as it will help Carey offensively and the whole team with interior defense.
