Cutting It Close ???

Folks, they are cutting it damn close in the north end zone of Dudley Field. The dead line of 11:00 AM on August 31st is rapidly approaching. I've noticed that almost all the plywood and/or mats have been removed from the playing surface, but the turf looks horrible and in need of a deep cleaning and possibly repairs (this could remove much of the pelletized rubber which would need replacement for player safety). No new seats have been installed to date (even though they have been presold). It also appears all work at the south end of the stadium has ceased. The one big LED scoreboard is up, but not yet tested. Entrance and egress will still be an issue for fans. I don't think all the promised end zone perks (bars, concessions, lounges, etc.) will be finished in a month. Are visiting teams still expected to dress in a "circus tent" or their hotel rooms? I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but you could see this screw up coming 6 months ago. I see very poor planning and oversight from the Vanderbilt AD.

Godfrey has Clark Lea on the hot seat entering 2024

Should come as no surprise to anyone.

“It just hasn’t happened. It hasn’t happened at all. It hasn’t happened in any actionable way.”

“There’s frustration on west end avenue.”

There’s no energy whatsoever.”

“There’s no idea of … a plan; something that you’re building towards. I don’t think anyone at Vanderbilt involves was saying it has to be year X.”

“If you haven’t paid attention, I’m talking about Clark Lea—native son, walk on player at Vanderbilt. He’s gone 9-27. So Vanderbilt has to now look around and go ‘all right, shit, the longer we retain [lea] and he’s got that winning % we are just telling everyone we gave up.’”

“There’s $$ being invested here.”

“It is same old Vanderbilt.”

“If I had to point to anything I think it’s this idea that you could maybe do a northwestern at Vanderbilt and I don’t know if that’s possible …. I’m just saying it’s really really hard to be a developmental progrum with ridiculous academic standards as the portal dawns.”

“You gotta go in and shake off the Vanderbilt instead of leaning into it.”

“I won’t play the schedule game; there’s no need to.”

Guilty Pleasure Bands

not your favorite so much but what are some artists/bands/styles that are opposite or way different from your normal tunes?

The Dixie Chicks
any and all Pop Punk/Emo
Ska (mostly 90s)

and this is my favorite Youtuber/Creator. He's managed to carve out a nice living by mixing a lot of these things together (pop punk done in a country style, country songs done in a pop punk style, worship songs done in midwest emo style, and he really excels at turning any song into a Blink-182 song.

Paris

Vanderbilt student Veroncia Fraley is in Paris representing the US and Vanderbilt. She is a track and field athlete in the discus competition and I know we all wish her well. Also, a Vanderbilt graduate, Lily Williams will be taking part in cycling events. And be sure to cheer on Nashville's own and Harpeth Hall graduates, the Walsh sisters, Alex and Gretchen, who will be swimming for the US. Good luck wishes go out to them and all the US athletes. USA ! USA !.

Baseball JUCO catcher Mac Rose commits to Vanderbilt

Per his Instagram linked below, though not sure if the link works.

Was "Mr. Irrelevant" in this draft. Good-hitting catcher on JUCO powerhouse MacLennan.
