Averaged Warren Nolan's ELO (ELO-chess system where you get points based on who you beat), Kenneth Massey's power rankings (seems heavily based on scoring margin, and just a hair different than his regular rankings) and the new Diamond Sports Rankings which D1 is trying to tout as an alternative to RPI and I don't think they are wrong). Here's what it spit out.
Also, if Vanderbilt ends up sent to Indiana State as a #2 I think it should more than welcome that.

Badly needed

According to a text I just got, alleging Jamie Shaw is reporting this.

I haven't seen it and am about to do a podcast, just passing that along.

Somebody needs to talk me off the ledge because it appears as though Coach Byington is putting a premium and spending NIL on guys who can’t shoot for shit.

MJ Collins - 27.4% career 3 pt shooter - 82.7% ft shooter (v good)

Grant Huffman - 29.3% career 3 pt shooter - 66.2% ft shooter (wtf)

Tyler Nickel - 37.1% career 3 pt shooter - 82.6% ft shooter (much better)

Then you have Bilal and Tyler Tanner.

While there are some things to like about this group, basketball has trended towards a big emphasis on 3 point shooting and spreading the floor. If you can’t make threes, you become easy to defend if Collins and Huffman are ever on the floor at the same time, we will become very easy to defend (ala Ezra and Tyrin).

I know I’m probably overreacting here but this roster isn’t looking like it’s going to be a good 3 pt shooting group and coming off of Stack, that’s about the last thing I want to watch.


@Joey Dwyer - are we in on any good shooters? Is my concern unfounded? I know we haven’t seen a Byington team play and I think that if we play in transition a lot, we can steal a lot of easy points but in the half court, this collection of players so far has me concerned.

PS - this post will inevitably be followed with a post where I have us in the Sweet 16 by mid summer.

For the second time in April Bryce Cunningham in the SEC Pitcher of the Week.
Now we just need him to do it twice in May as well.

Vanderbilt is listed as the number 2 seed in the Terre Haute Regional behind host Indiana State. Also in the bracket is number 3 seed Purdue and number 4 seed Austin Peay!

I will absolutely agree that Tim Corbin has been a program changing figure in Vandy athletics. The baseball program should be named for him. His jersey should be retired. I know he's a great coach, a nice guy, and has been very accessible to VS, as well as all media. But the idea that his decisions cannot be questioned is ludicrous. And i'm including the last 2 seasons. Baxter has had about the same percentage as a successful coach here as Stack did. And he'll be here as long as TC is.

"How many NCs do you have?" is not sufficient to counter the fact that sometimes extremely intelligent people make stupid decisions. For whatever reason.

I know i will be ripped apart for daring to suggest that we are in the waning years of Tim's time here. And NOBODY hopes i'm wrong more than i.

Maybe this is a mail bag question, but is there anyone taking pictures at the games anymore? The Photos in the gallery are great, but the newest is from 2022 football season. Would love to see some shots from the Baseball games we've all been watching.

Has anyone noticed for the past few weeks that Rivals slows down to a crawl for about 60 to 90 minutes every evening?

It doesn’t seem to be related to the network that I’m on, nor the browser that I’m using. Other sites are fine during those same times. It legitimately seems to be on Rivals’ end. But I haven’t seen any postings about it so it may be just my device. Anyone having the same issue?
