I was thinking through the roster at the end of two years ago, you could potentially have all the following on NFL rosters; some are already there, some are on the verge of making a team, some I think have an excellent shot to make a team in a year or two. Let me know if I'm forgetting anyone.
QB: Kyle Shurmur
RB: Ralph Webb
WR: Trent Sherfield
WR: Kalija Lipscomb
TE: Jared Pinkney
LT: Will Holden
RT: Justin Skule
RG: Bruno Reagan
DL: Jonathan Wynn
DL: Adam Butler
LB: Zach Cunningham
LB: Oren Burks
CB: JoeJuan Williams
CB: Tre Herndon
S: LaDarius Wiley
Thats 15 players (fifteen!) who may eventually play in the NFL from that team alone. And for all I know I may be leaving someone out.
(And I think CJ Duncan may still be with Arizona, though I don't think he and Sherfield will both make it.)
All those players may not wind up making a team, and a lot them them may make it, but not play a significant role. But it never occurred to me at the time that there was that much potential NFL talent on that team.
Also, while it's not an apples-to-apples comparison (there are more NFL teams historically than in the past), I don't think a Vanderbilt team has ever even approached the number of players that one will have in the league, once the dust has settled.
