RPI #2
KPI #2. [we jumped back over Texas but Ole MIss snuck into 1st behind our back]
SOS #2
ELO #8. [up 2 spots from last Sunday; hasn’t been updated since]
versus Quad 1 teams: 15-14. [Texas and OM tied with 16 — ours can’t change, their’s can]
Things are so close in these ratings that we can still improve.
The race for RPI #1 is tighter than a tick on your testicles. I guess only country boys like me can appreciate that reference. Sorry, ladies, I dare not try to come up with something along these lines you can relate to. I’ll leave that to @Friedas_Boss.
Right now Georgia only leads us by a scant 13 RPI points. But we only lead #3 Auburn by 17 points and Texas by 29 points. Arkansas has fallen 52 points behind us thanks to our “friends” in Knoxville.
(AFAIK our only true friend in Knoxville is @knoxdore and perhaps his family if he’s as big a Vandy fan as he claims to be, which I don’t doubt at all.)
Every SEC game today except one will determine who wins this race. As previously mentioned, no one gives a horses’ patootie how MSU and OM fare in their football game today, previous scores being 25-7 and 13-3.
If we win today we pick up 31 RPI points; if Georgia loses then we win the RPI regular season title. Even if Auburn and Texas win they can’t catch us.
If both Vandy and Georgia win we’d still be 4 points behind.
The winner will then be determined by 6 other SEC games.
Oddly enough, one non-SEC can also impact the results enough to hand us a win — Harvard vs. Columbia. Wouldn’t it be pretty if our cohorts at Harvard give the Harvard of the South a victory? Seems fitting to me.
It’s way too complicated to figure out all the possibilities here but, basically, we are helped when SEC teams we won a series over win their series today which would be A&M, Tennessee (ugh), and Florida. Georgia is helped most by series they won which were Kentucky, Florida, Auburn, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.
So, the Florida game cancels out and we are left with 2 things to pull for today in other SEC games:
— UTjr beat Arkansas
— A&M beat Georgia
Personally, I hate that our fate rests with the baters from Knoxville. I’ll just have to find a way to live with that, I suppose.
