I'm hanging out at Vanderbilt all day for both sessions of their QB/WR/DB camp, here are a few notes to pass along from the early morning session.
Best QB's so far have been Harrison (Ga.) 2018 prospect Justin Fields, Lamar (Tex.) 2017 prospect Owen Holt, and Brentwood Academy (Tenn.) 2018 target Gavin Schoenwald. The best out of those three in my opinion is Fields, who has good size at 6-foot-2, 203-pounds and has shown a nice combination of touch and velocity on downfield throws.
The wide receiver field isn't really filled with talented kids that make your head turn with their abilities, however, I did like local Brentwood Academy product Daniel Taylor, a 2018 prospect. While small at 5-foot-8, he's really displayed good quickness, precise route-running, and can also put it in another gear and create some separation on deep routes. Another guy I've liked because of his size is 2019 prospect Malachi Miller out of Union Grove (Ga.), he's already a tall receiver with a good set of hands but just needs to work on his quickness and route running.
The defensive back group was relatively small, but had some talented guys in it like West Limestone (Ala.) 2017 safety Reed Blankenship who reminds me of a taller version of Austin Quillen. The group also features Collin Duncan, a young 2019 prospect out of Saint James (Ala.) that has looked impressive for his age. I've also been impressed with the ability of Knoxville Catholic (Tenn.) 2017 prospect Jeffrey Wood, while a bit undersized, he's shown off quick feet and agility.
