It’ll be interesting to see how the SECT changes the metrics by next Sunday, but here’s where they stand now for Vandy.

RPI #3 [more on this later; it’s fascinating]
KPI #1
ELO #2
ISR #5
SOS #2
SEC #3 (tied with LSU)
Q1 wins #3
Q1&2 wins. #1

RPI: Behind Georgia, Auburn
ELO: Behind Arkansas
ISR: Behind Texas, Oregon State, Arkansas, Georgia
SOS: Behind Auburn
SEC: Behind Texas, Arkansas
Q1 wins: Behind Texas, Ole Miss
[that’s more behinds than a UT frat party buttchugging contest, which might cause Lewis Black to ask, “What are they teaching our youth up there? Is the whole state run by a bunch of imbeciles?”—the answers are nothing and yes.
Texas, Auburn, Georgia, and Arkansas are the only teams with similar rankings to Vandy’s.

In RPI, we are only 24 RPI points behind Georgia and a scant 9 behind Auburn and 13 ahead of Texas (followed by Arkansas who is 44 behind Vandy)
The SECT will determine who ends up #1 here.
Our likely first opponent is Georgia. Beat them and we’ll vault into 1st place most likely because Auburn will play either A&M or MSU and either will pull down their points even if they win. If Auburn wins that game, their next foe would be LSU, currently RPI #8.
The race for #1 RPI is tighter than a tick securely attached on the part of your back you can’t reach and if you live alone you’re SOL and will need to go to the doctor to have it expensively removed in 5 seconds. That computes out to $4000 per hour, $12000 if you go to the ER. Heaven help you if you have to be life-flighted, that’s another $13,000. Total charges: $25,000 plus $20 for a
bandaid.
All for a tiny little tick.

Our lowest rank is ISR, Iterative Strenth Ratings. Only the tech geeks at Boyd’s World know what that really means but I trust them to not lie. The top 7 teams are all SEC except #2 Oregon State. They are also tight as a tick, but this time the tick is attached to your head. Don’t ask which one.
It also appears this will be decided by the SECT since Oregon State isn’t in a conference and won’t play this week. Chickens***s.

On the negative side of things Vandy only has 1 bad loss, Liddle Middle. Georgia and Texas also only have 1. Arkansas has 3. North Carolina and Clemson are the only teams with 0 bad losses.
The teams at the top of the ratings who play the most Quad 4 games as a % of all games played are:
Arkansas 40%
LSU 36%
Alabama 33%
Tennessee 32%
Florida 30%

The team that plays the least % of its games against inferior teams?
Vandy 18%

Throw all that in a pot and stir it up and what have you got?
IMHO Vandy should be either the #1 or #2 seed in the NCAAT.

But that’s just as of today. There’s lot of ball to play by next Sunday so we’ll have to see how it all shakes out.
One thing’s for certain: The SECT means a whole, whole, whole lot this year.
It’s without a doubt a Mini Haha Oma ha [which is my planned stage name for the next Senior Strip Show Contest which airs live on ESPNews and the ESPN app (where available) every Saturday night at the Ryman.
