Typically, mid-week games don't change one's RPI much.
But today is different.

We are currently #3 in RPI, 63 RPI points behind #2 Texas and 72 points behind #1 Georgia.

If we beat Louisville (+27 points for us) and Texas loses to Lamar (-48 points to them) we will vault over them into 2nd place, 12 points ahead of them.

These value changes are big because Louisville is RPI #27 and it's a road game. [Road wins are worth 1.3 times as much as a regular win.]
And also because Lamar, RPI #58, and it's a home game for Texas. [Home wins are only worth 0.7 times as much as a regular win.]
Meaning, our win is over-valued, and their win is under-valued in terms of RPI points.

Georgia doesn't play, but if Texas loses they would also lose 5 RPI points; we would vault over them into 1st place, 8 points ahead of them.
This would also work if A&M, Bama, and Florida all win, which they should, since that would gain us 6 points putting us 9 points ahead of Georgia.

But if Texas wins, even if we win, we'll still be 37 points behind. That's a lot better than being 62 points behind. We'll still move closer and get them more into striking range this weekend.

As for the weekend, Texas is at home with Florida. Even if they win the series 2-1 that's only 1.4-1.3 for RPI purposes.
We are on the road. Win the series 2-1 and that's 2.6-0.7 for RPI purposes.
We'd likely overtake Texas even if both of us win the upcoming weekend series.

Georgia, however, is on the road at Bama. It'll be too hard to catch them in the RPI should they win that series. Only if they get swept would it be helpful to us.

I love numbers.
I also love to beat Louisville.
And I really, really, really love to beat UT.
