Happy college basketball season! The Mark Byington era starts tonight.

Vanderbilt is a 24.5-point favorite against Maryland Eastern Shore. UMES coach Cleo Hill Jr. will make his debut at the helm tonight, as well.

Vanderbilt doesn’t seem to know what he or his team will show them. It’s mostly made up of non-experienced D-I transfers and JUCO guys.

The size will be interesting to monitor. Maryland Eastern Shore doesn’t have anyone above 6-foot-9, but does have four guys 6-foot-8 or taller. Will be some pressure on Jaylen Carey to stay out of foul trouble.

Reminder that AJ Hoggard won’t play tonight so you’ll see plenty of Grant Huffman and Tyler Tanner.

I’ll be in Nashville this weekend for the Patriots-Titans game. I was hoping to double dip with a Vandy home game, but the schedule didn’t line up. Does anyone have any good recommendations for sports bars in Nashville with Vandy ties? Nashville has changed so much since I graduated in 2013 and I don’t know the landscape nearly as well as I used to.

If there’s any interest, I would be game for meeting up with Vandy fans somewhere to watch the Vandy Auburn game. I came down for the Hawaii game last year and had an incredible time in Lot 2. It was the best tailgating experience I’ve had at Vandy

I have noticed this before and have been meaning to ask: does anyone know when the team stopped carrying the American flag when they take the field? Does anyone know who made this decision not to carry the flag and why that decision was made.
