With the great football start outside of GA St and Pavia just being such a dude at QB, both hoops teams looking promising after blowout wins (and what a freshman guard VU may have in womens hoops to go along with a very good returning cast) and baseball with always high expectations with CTC at the helm, if folks had to predict today which team during those 24/25 season school calendar year will end the season with the perceived best season.

Thoughts on basketball team

Man on nights where shots are falling these guys are gonna put up some points. And I reckon we better - gonna give up a bunch too I think

Mcglockton - my goodness! But a LOT of any given night stars on this team. I’m impressed that they don’t seem to be selfish and already appear to gel pretty well. And good to see Williams come in late and go to the dirt fighting for a ball.

Also - that is how you find playing time for your walk ons!

Should be fun

Notes from Vanderbilt’s win over Lipscomb

Vanderbilt beat Lipscomb 102-50.

Both men and women’s basketball scored 102 points today.

Torvik (like KenPom) moved Vanderbilt women up from No. 30 to No. 22 after the win today.

Iyana Moore has recorded double-digit points in eight consecutive games. She finished today’s game with 15 points.

Vanderbilt earned its fourth straight season-opening win under head coach Shea Ralph. She is the only head coach in program history to do so.

Khamil Pierre is the first Commodore with a double-double in a season opener since the 2020-21 season. The last player was Koi Love, who had 19 points and 12 rebounds on an 81-61 win over East Tennessee St.

Leilani Kapinus is probable for Friday’s game.

Justine Pissott is expected to return next week.

There is no timeline on Sacha Washington’s return. Ralph said they should know more “very soon” when Washington gets reevaluated.

Vanderbilt’s 102 is the most under Shea Ralph.

In her collegiate debut, freshman Mikayla Blakes posted 23 points, and she is the first Commodore to score 20-plus points in her debut game under head coach Shea Ralph.

Austin Peay falls to Bethel TN (NAIA) by 12. The Govs will play the Commodores on Friday.

Austin Peay is in the same conference (ASUN) as Lipscomb.

This team versus Franklin’s teams

Lots of talk here about Lea and Mason but I’m wondering about this team against any one of Franklin’s teams. Would this team win? How is this team better (or not) than those teams. I’m sure that most of you have seen Jordan Matthews’ tweets. He is in awe of this team and Pavia especially.
It’s always easier to think the most recent events are the ultimate, but it might be fun to hear what y’all think. Quality of players. Play calling/ scheme, physical strength. Attitude. Defense. Etc.

Three-star WR talks Vandy visit

Recent Purdue decommit LeBron Hill visited Vanderbilt last weekend. The three-star wideout was impressed with what he found.

"Man, Coach Lea and his passion for the game is just amazing," Hill said. "it's something I'd want to be apart of."

The message that coach Lea had for Hill was pretty straightforward too.

"That if I was to come to Vanderbilt he’s gonna give me everything he has. Just like what he’s currently doing with his guys night in and night out," Hill said.

Lea has the program in good position for Hill after this visit. He's heard from many schools since backing off his previous commitment so we are a ways away from a decision. But Vanderbilt will be in this one until the end.
