Caught up with the Smyrna (Tenn.) LB prospect and current Memphis commit this evening. Carter just picked up an offer from Vanderbilt and there is mutual interest on both sides.

"I'm very interested in their program," Carter said of Vandy. "I like their motto and mind set of getting Vanderbilt back on top along with the way they run their program."

Carter noted he had been talking with Vandy's coaching staff for a while before Nick Lezynski extended an offer. He plans to visit West End for a game sometime this fall.

Wake Forest also just offered and are making a big push. Duke is showing interest, but hasn't offered yet. So, that's where he's at with his recruiting process currently.

In terms of what coaches like about his film, this is what Carter had to say.

"They say they like how I’m relentless to the ball, my speed and quick twitch, and my physicality along with versatility to make tackles in the open field and in the the box."

Chris Lee and Seabass discuss some things that popped from the Hawaii game and do some critical analysis in terms of concerns and areas where there appeared to be improvement. Defense is a big topic, as is whether the Commodores can generate a consistent downfield passing game. Also discussed are the staff's for the dismissal of Daniel Martin and Maurice Edwards and the criticisms that have ensued from that.

Football Is it Saturday yet??

Usually during the season, a week between games seems like a week, because, well, honestly, who's in a big hurry for the next loss?

But, after a 53 point win, a week feels like a month!! Damn, it's only Wednsday? I got my kick the crap out of our next opponent shoes on!

This is what it feels like to be an SEC team, huh? I had forgotten, 2012 was 10 years ago. Feels more like 20.....

Football Patrick Smith?

Where in the world was Patrick Smith Saturday evening... anyone have any idea? I felt he had moved to the top back position by end of year last year, and most seemed to feel he had edged out Rocko as the #2 behind R. Davis. Rocko had a solid game Saturday, but just was surprised we NEVER saw Smith in the game? Does he have an injury I missed somewhere? Thx

Audio Two player dismissals follow a successful Hawaii trip

It's been a great week for Vanderbilt football, but that was dampened somewhat by Wednesday's dismissal of freshmen Maurice Edwards and Daniel Martin, two highly-rated recruits who didn't play in the opener. Chris Lee and Kevin discuss that, some takeaways from the Hawaii game (including an energetic defensive approach) and more.

Stats - interesting/startling fact

Stats - I like them. They tell a story. By no means the whole story, but trends.
Let me be clear I am not saying our point output is a trend -- but the stat below is eye-opening. Disturbing about 2021 as well.

We scored 189 points in 2021 (15.75 ppg).
We Scored 63 points last night.
That means we have achieved 33.3% of our 2021 season point total in week zero.
