This was no doubt a great win. Probably the best win in the Stack tenure. We can all easily guess he’ll be back now. Please make it worth it. Please start stacking wins. I’d rather be mad that he’s back and us be in some sort of postseason than be mad he’s back and us finish 14-16 or something. All of the remaining games are extremely winnable. Go win those games

FB Recruiting Nigel Maynard update

Caught up with the three-star DB target last weekend at a workout. He really likes the Commodores and has a direct tie to the school.

Basketball How much turnover is the SEC due for?

Since we’ve been discussing a possible coaching change, I started wondering who else may be in the market this off-season. With Missouri, Florida, South Carolina, Mississippi State, LSU, and Georgia making changes last year, it’s safe to assume they won’t be in the market. Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Auburn, Texas A&M are having good years and shouldn’t make any changes, barring unexpected departures or firings. This leaves Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Ole Miss. Kentucky would not be looking in the same market of coaches as Vandy would, so I don’t see any competition there. This has to only improve the quality of coach Vanderbilt could attract, right? Not sure which other power 5 programs are due for a change, but this is a great year to be in the market in the SEC. Thoughts?

Red Panda Revenge Tour

Apparently failed at halftime of men's game. Went back to hotel and reviewed tape and got it done tonight at Women's game. Heard she was inspired by Stackhouse's turnaround from Bama to Tennessee. The reports of her demise have been greatly exaggerated.

I did not go to ladies' game but had it on tonight while doing some emails and saw this inspirational work. 5 bowls. Most of you can't even put the dishes up out of the dishwasher without dropping one.

FB Recruiting Vanderbilt is a 'dream school' for Cameron Clark

I caught up with West Tennessee defensive end Cameron Clark. He talks about his Vanderbilt offer and more. Clark is probably a prospect that they will want to see more of in the camp setting. I really like his film.

FB Recruiting 2024 DT Dillard's recruitment blows up, talks upcoming Vandy visit

Lots of good info in this interview with Martreece Dillard Jr. He will be visiting Vanderbilt this upcoming weekend. His recruitment has taken a turn recently, and I think Vanderbilt has a shot here. He definitely likes Coach Black.

a couple random thoughts UT-VU

1. Storming the court: I agree that a better use of security would be the visitor's bench area but I would extend that up the sideline in front of the scorer's table. Let the students have center court. As far as fines, they obviously do not work. If the NCAA wants to take action, try banning students from attending the next home game. Not only can the school not issue or sell tickets in the student section , but those seats must remain empty, with enough security around the perimeter to insure this. Students may purchase tickets in other seating areas if they wish.
2. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that in the final 90 seconds or so, UT scored and as Vandy was inbounding the ball, an official stopped play so a UT player could tie his shoe. I'm not suggesting any bias here but the stoppage did allow UT to substitute and set up pressure defense. I did not think it was standard procedure to stop play for this. Did I see it wrong?
3. Still cannot decide about Stack. Had to love the way the team played. I know you have to consider everything but I cannot decide where I stand.
4. Nothing better than having all those fans dressed head to toe in orange show up and then have to leave wondering how in the world they lost to VANDY !! Pure joy.
5. Finally, thanks to all who posted. Thoroughly enjoyed reading everything.

Stute - Updated Stats (Perhaps, Not What You Think)

Consistent with his season long performance, Myles performed at his non-Memorial game pace yesterday vs. the Gators . . . 1-2 from "3" . . . albeit with a lot of luck as he banked in the one shot he made! But, nonetheless, we'll take it!

Myles was 0-5 yesterday from "3" and many members commented about this performance and Stack's correct decision to "sit him down" for the 2nd half. I have updated the numbers below and the SEC and Memorial Gym #'s are stunning.

Myles hit what I thought was the 2nd most important shot today . . . the 3 pointer following his air ball 3 pointer (for which I give Lawrence a lot of credit for catching the airball and doing a ballet like dance along the baseline before passing it back out to Myles). I thought Thomas' 3 which hit everything possible before settling in the basket was the biggest shot. Of course, it's all debatable.

But here goes. Myles was 3-9 from the beyond the 3 point line. His season splits, which many of us may have intuitively "knew" (not the exact numbers, but directionally what was going on) are "crazy" since "forever" the sight lines within Memorial Gym have been considered to be "fantastic" for shooters:

  • All Games: 59-141, or 41.8%
  • SEC Home Games: 7-26, or 26.9%
  • SEC Away Games: 12-30, or 40.0%
  • All SEC Games: 19-56, or 33.9%
  • Non-Conference Home Games: 16-44, 36.4%
  • Non-Conference Away Games: 13-19, 68.4%
  • Non-Conference Neutral Site Games: 11-21, or 52.3%
  • All Non-Conference Games: 40-84, or 47.6%
  • All Home Games: 23-70, or 32.9%
  • All Away Games: 25-49, or 51%
  • All Neutral Site Games: 11-21, or 52.3%
  • All Non-Memorial Gym Games: 36-70, or 51.4%
What do you believe causes the disparity between Memorial Gym and not at Memorial Gym:

  • Puts more pressure on himself when playing on his home court; and/or
  • Feeds off a hostile crowd as much of that crowd's focus is on Myles as the "known" instigator/"bad" guy; and/or
  • other?
UPDATED (Updates in Bold Type)
  • All Games: 60-148, or 40.5%
  • SEC Home Games: 7-31, or 22.6%
  • SEC Away Games: 13-32, or 40.6%
  • All SEC Games: 20-63, or 31.7%
  • Non-Conference Home Games: 16-44, 36.4%
  • Non-Conference Away Games: 13-19, 68.4%
  • Non-Conference Neutral Site Games: 11-21, or 52.3%
  • All Non-Conference Games: 40-84, or 47.6%
  • All Home Games: 23-75, or 30.7%
  • All Away Games: 26-51, or 51.0%
  • All Neutral Site Games: 11-21, or 52.3%
  • All Non-Memorial Gym Games: 37-72, or 51.4%

Bubble Watch

Watching the Selection Show was referred to as Dad’s Second Christmas when our children still lived at home. I used to subscribe to Jerry Palm’s website when he was essentially doing it as a hobby out of his home office in Carmel, Indiana.

Anyway, even when Vanderbilt has little or no chance of making The Big Dance I still consume multiple versions of The Bracket Watch, mostly ESPN+, CBS, and USA Today. And I keep an eye on bracketmatrix.com. Daily. Two or three times a day during Championship Week.

Which sites do you all follow and recommend as we pick up serious momentum toward Sunday, March 12.

Side note: When I guess it was CBS, though broadcasters from TNT were involved I believe, decided one year to reveal the Field of 68 alphabetically I had a major come-apart. Talk about messing up a good thing. People don’t realize that often times the senior management of a company gets bored with its products a lot faster than the customers do.
