Am I a bad fan?

I love what stack has done with the team and I’m excited about the basketball team going forward. I really enjoyed the run this year, I went to more basketball games this year than I have over the last decade. With that being said, I couldn’t care less about the NIT. Baseball just swept Ole Miss, we are in the middle of spring football and I hate consolation prizes. I’ve never liked the NIT and I don’t understand the point of it. I love the NBA so maybe that’s why, I don’t even like bowl games. Have a tournament, one winner, move on. Am I a bad fan for not being excited about the NIT, while being excited about the programs future? Can they be mutually exclusive?

What is the narrative? or is there a narrative anymore? - Stack

Checking in to see what the narrative is on Stackhouse for the people that believed he couldn't win here or simply wasn't a very good coach?

@NashNative615 @Chris Lee @VUMatt23 @papahick4VU @TNSurge @thepeopleschampion13 @Takovic @baseballbros

I know there are more, but most of the above have been pretty outspoken.

Have you changed your mind?

Will the narrative have something to do with not getting selected for an at large birth? Had we been selected, would that have changed your opinion?

In other words, are we going to have to go through this crap again, or are you going to get your asses to Memorial Gym next year and support the team?

And, I agree that there are things he has to do better, I always have (being all in, being an ambassador for VU and having positive engagement with our fans, understanding that "pre conference" is not analogous to "pre season" (use your words wisely here, Stack, fans don't like it when you lose and then misspeak on top of it), recruiting better).

In the meantime, beat UAB. Excited to be at Memorial Gym this week.

Baseball Taking podcast questions for Chip Fridrich, 2:30 Wednesday

Today’s mailbag is sponsored by Sutherland & Belk, a family owned injury law firm. If you or a loved one has been hurt in an accident, give Taylor or Russell a call at 615-846-6200 to see what your rights are and if they can help.

The podcast is presented by Dr. Jody Jones DDS.

The guest line is presented by Michael Kendrick of The Kendrick Group. Michael is a local carpenter and a lifelong Vandy fan. He builds bookshelves, cabinets, picture frames, furniture and made-to-order items, including a display case for my prized Dale Murphy jersey. I have seen Michael’s work and he’s a true craftsman. If you’re in the market for custom woodwork, give Michael a call at 615.830.9458.

We are doing this at 2:30 Wednesday. This will be a baseball-only podcast.

Notes regarding UAB

I didn't know Andy (NIT Andy) Kennedy was coaching UAB. Should be a fun game.
They are extraordinary good - - all senior starters that played in the NCAAT last season. They crushed common opponents South Carolina, Georgia, Southern Miss and Morehead State. They beat their 2 SWAC opponents by a combined almost 80pts and are 14-2 over their last 16 games with only close losses to a very good North Texas 2OT and Sweet 16 FAU (C-USA Tournament Finals) whom they split the regular season.

UAB is Andy’s alma mater and he was one of if not the NCAAs best 3pt shooter for Gene Bartow’s Blazers in the late 1980s. Remember Kennedy is Ole Miss career wins leader and re-wrote literally every coaching record there. UAB and Vandy are the 2 best teams in the NIT in my opinion. UAB is much better than Michigan. We will need to play an outstanding all around game with a sprinkle of Memorial Magic to get to Vegas.

LFG

First off, I was at my daughter’s soccer game and have no idea what happened to Liam but I’m heartbroken for him and this team if he’s done for the year.

Second, we are now 3-44 at Rupp Arena.

For all of you who haven’t been willing to admit that Jerry Stackhouse is a very good coach, here’s your chance to admit, quite simply, that you were wrong (because you were). You weren’t wrong about his recruiting, his fan engagement, or even his lack of effort in understanding the college game, but you were wrong about his coaching ability.

Regardless, I don’t care if you admit it or not, the guy can coach.

Love y’all, I really do and absolutely EAD, UK.
