The Commodores jumped into the mix for Chase Sutton, an intriguing in-state cornerback target out of St. George's (Tenn.) that added an offer from Vanderbilt to his resume this past May.

The 6-foot-0, 160-pound recruit out of Collierville, TN. sat down with VandySportsDotCom to detail his interest in Vanderbilt, revealing how long the Commodores have been involved in his recruitment.

"It feels great, never thought I would get an opportunity like this," Sutton said. "They have been in my recruitment since about mid-May."

Sutton said that he connected with Vanderbilt assistant coach and defensive ends coach Jovan Haye and liked how genuine he was and how he lives the game.

"It was Coach Jovan Haye," Sutton said. "He was a genuine person and was told you have to live the game if you want to succeed."

Sutton said that he's excited to learn more about the Commodores' program and is planning on stopping by West End for a visit as soon as he's contacted by the staff. He added that he has no other visits scheduled at the moment.

"I'm very excited to learn more," Sutton said. "Definitely planning on stopping by for a visit when a coach reaches out to me about coming."

In addition to the offer from Vanderbilt, Sutton has also collected opportunities from several other schools.

Mabel Cummins

Vandy has announced that Mabel Cummins will be added to the coaching staff of the bowling team. If you are not familiar with this recently graduated athlete, I urge you to go to the Vandy website to read about this amazing young lady. I cannot imagine this hire as being anything but a huge plus for VU for the next several years----for the bowling team, the athletic department and the university as a whole.

College sports and supreme court

I saw this opinion piece on cnn.

Obviously it is someone very upset about the supreme court decision.

I am in no way arguing for or against that decision.

I thought the idea was interesting. Could sports admissions be considered a quota based system (for a certain number of students) and not allowed?

I thought it was interesting.

FB Recruiting Commits by state

Vandy currently has 21 commitments in their 2024 recruiting class, here is a state breakdown:

Texas - 5 (Harrison Moore, Tristen Brown, Johann Cardenas, Alvin Williamson, Jr., Dontae Carter)
