I guess it could be worse: ACC battle-Louisville vs FSU

In a big ACC game 0-8 Louisville travels to Tallahassee to play 1-9 Florida State in a battle of former heavyweights.

Not sure I’d ever see those teams playing each other 8 and 10 games into the season with a combined 1 win.

Louisville losses include Bellarmine, Wright State and Appy State and 1/2 their losses are by 25 points or more.

FSU losses include Stetson, Troy and yes that Siena. Their one win is over Mercer.

But how bad is Louisville. FSU is favored by 10 today.

Hey Stack, Bryce Drew beat Grambling 81-48 a couple of games ago

Everyone's favorite punching bag, Bryce Drew, beat tonight's opponent, Grambling, by 33 points earlier this season, 81-48.

You can't compare scores, so I'm not saying that Stack needs to better or match Drew's 33 point W. But, this game shouldn't be a close game, either.

Come on Stack, beat the brakes off of this team tonight.

Long-time Vanderbilt commit Ka'Morreun Pimpton has seen his stock rise, and more offers have come his way. As mentioned on here before, he recently got the Texas offer. This is the one that Vanderbilt feared the most, but there is confidence amongst the staff that Vanderbilt can hold unto him. The hope is that the Texas offer is too late. Tight ends coach Justin Lustig and offensive coordinator Joey Lynch made an in-home visit last night.

- Vanderbilt offered Wake Forest corner Gavin Holmes last night. The 5-foot-11 corner has two years of eligibility remaining. He has received offers from Arkansas, Virginia Tech, Baylor, West Virginia, Kansas, Washington, Texas, and others since entering the portal.

- Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea did an in-home with Vanderbilt defensive tackle commit Demarion Thomas last night.

- I'm about finished with an interview with Vanderbilt commit and Tennessee Mr. Football Junior Sherrill. I hope to have that out today at some point.

Basketball Transfers (from VU) - 2022-23 Season to Date

Here are some early stats to "chew on", or "ignore", as you see fit, about players who transferred away from VU to other schools (Hope I did not miss someone.). As we know, most of the players transferred "down" to schools with teams in "lower level" conferences which unofficially confirms that recruiting is not an exact science and some coaches are better than others in finding and landing talent.

I will highlight a few of my own observations and look forward to your collective thoughts (as well as any "shots" (pun intended) you want to fire at me!):

  • Albert: Cannot recall if Bralee was or was not on scholarship for a year, but even if only a walk-on, thought I would include on this list;
  • Daniels: Definitely has some talent, but was not a fit at VU;
  • DeZonie: Shane is totally buried on the Temple depth chart behind Mann and Battle and has played a scant few minutes to date with virtually no production so far;
  • Disu: Now, with more than a full year of recovery following his knee problems, on a positive note Dylan is starting for the Longhorns, but starting is trending toward something of a "reward" for him since he only averages 17 minutes per game (which ties him, effectively, with 2 other players for 6th place in terms of minutes per game) and of more interest, Dylan has averaged only 13 minutes in the games against Creighton, Gonzaga and Illinois while playing 20 minutes on average against low-level D1 teams;
  • Dorsey: Friedas_Boss and I used to go back and forth as to why Gabe's shots from long distance were not falling since he has such a "sweet" shooting motion; it appears whatever caused his shooting woes as a Dore are a thing of the past;
  • Frank: Frankly (pun intended!), I am stunned by Terren's shooting %'s, although we will see how those %'s hold up over time;
  • Jankovic: Not much to say here;
  • Mann: Jamaine's move back down to a non-Power conference appears to agree with him, although, as we know, he cannot shoot from distance;
  • McBride: Isaac is having another productive season for ORU; and
  • Odusipe: Very little on-court action so far.

Basketball attendance

I was curious about attendance last night because the atmosphere seemed so dead on TV. 5616 was the announced attendance, which means there were probably what, 4500 people actually there? 30% full Memorial against a P5 opponent should be alarming/embarrassing for the AD. It's probably not though, and that's the root of the problem.
