Scheduling ...Basketball

I might be overthinking here but Vandy has played 6 home games. 3 of the 6 have been played on Friday nights that is the normal night for high school sports in this area. 1 of the home games was played at 4 pm on Saturday of all the conference football championships games and the TSSAA championship games. Not taking up for Stack one bit , but could the scheduling part play a role in the low attendance so far.

FB Recruiting Hudson Catholic (N.J.) 2023 DL Ted Gregoire details Vanderbilt visit

After announcing his visit over social media on Dec. 6, Hudson Catholic (N.J.) 2023 defensive lineman Ted Gregoire, who committed to Vanderbilt this past August, stopped by West End this weekend to catch up with the Commodores.

The 6-foot-6, 280-pound strongside defensive end out of Jersey City, N.J. spoke with VandySportsDotCom about his most recent visit with the Commodores and detailed what stood out to him the most.

"My family and I loved the visit," Gregoire said. "Had a great time. What stood out was the family environment and the coaching staff."

Gregoire said he was able to enjoy several fun activities during this weekend's visit to Nashville and added that he had a great conversation with the Commodores' coaching staff. He added that he isn't taking any more visits this month as he's locking in with Vanderbilt.

"We went to restaurants, the rise banquet, top golf, and many more fun activities," Gregoire said. "The conversation with the staff and Coach Black and Coach Haye went very good. I'm 1000% locked in with Vanderbilt."

As we've already mentioned, WR coach Alex Bailey will go visit another pass-catching target in Klein Cain (Tex.) product Jaelen Smith tonight. Smith had an official visit to Michigan State last weekend and has an OV set up with Minnesota this weekend.

Pimpton is taking an official visit to LSU this weekend. Obviously Texas just offered him, so would expect an official with the Longhorns at some point as well.

New transfer CB offer is visiting Arkansas this weekend. Considering the amount of interest Holmes is drawing. I doubt he'll end up at Vanderbilt.

Staub is a quarterback that Vanderbilt OC Joey Lynch recently went to watch throw and could potentially be an option. We'll see if anything progresses. Regardless, he is back at Colorado taking an official visit with Deion Sanders and their new staff, so it seems they want him to stick around in their 2023 class.

Smith is a recent offer for Vanderbilt and WR coach Alex Bailey just had an in-home with him on Thursday. He is at Minnesota this weekend for an official visit, which was his original plan. He visited Michigan State last weekend for an official. Very possible he could check out Vanderbilt at some point. The thing to keep in mind here is Smith, for now anyway, is going to wait until February to sign to see what other schools may jump in the mix.

Reminder that Fountenette is taking an official visit with TCU this weekend. He has a final two that includes the Horned Frogs and Vanderbilt, so we'll see how things play out. He doesn't have a commitment date in mind right now, but is planning to sign somewhere on December 21st.

Williams and Lee, AD's that love giving away money

Williams let Mason run the football program in the ground, and gave him an extension before he got fired.

Lee is currently letting Stack continue what Drew started, running the basketball program in the ground, and gave him an extension to make sure he completes it's destruction.

Williams would be proud of Lee, truly a chip off of the old block.

MBB: Over/Under on the number of SEC wins at 7.5

In Stackhouse's first year the Commodores won 3 SEC games during the regular season, and in his second year the team won 3 SEC games. Last year the team improved to 7 conference wins during the regular season, including a 4-5 mark during the second half. So, do you think we will improve on that mark this year? I actually believe we do, though it may be as close to the mark as 8 wins this year. And here is a prediction from my crystal ball: we will actually win more conference games on the road than at home.
