Off topic Unless I’m missing something, Finebaum is giving Vandy little to no credit for Saturday

I’ve seen a couple of clips of Finebaum reacting to Vandy’s win on Saturday. In all of the clips I have seen, he just focuses on Alabama and how embarrassing the game was for Alabama.

While yes historically for Alabama this was an embarrassing loss, there’s no mention from him about how Vanderbilt when out and WON this game and was the better team by being more physical and outgaining Bama. No mention of Clark Lea, no mention of Pavia. Bad look for Finebaum to ignore the important parts of that story Saturday

Bill King

Some really good Vandy talk and analysis on Bill King this morning. Two things; 1. He said several times something we already know: the better team won. Vanderbilt, he said, was better the entire game in all 3 phases. 2. At halftime, on DraftKings, Vanderbilt was actually favored by 1.5. He bet Alabama. He wondered how many times anyone has bet Alabama as an underdog and lost the bet. Later in the show, Bill read some texts from listeners. A UT fan sent in: "right now, I'd rather have Pavia than Nico". Well, UT fans are really going to wish they had Pavia when Thanksgiving weekend rolls around.

New Field Goal Posts

We better hope Barton-Malow isn’t tasked with the job or it won’t be installed into the 2026 season.

In all seriousness, do we think VU had a contingency plan in place in case a field goal post breaks or is ripped down after an upset? I’m curious how quick a school can order a new field goal post and install it? Can they just move one from the practice field?

My favorite part of the night..

Was when the talking heads called for VU to run clock on the last possession. I was yelling at the TV .....No no no no, that's a real recipe to lose. We need at least one first down with 2.50 left. 3 runs with a 2 minute time out is a recipe for disaster. They absolutely cut their heart out on that last possession by not trying to run clock.... they got 2 first downs and kept the ball away from their big play makers.

Of course there were a lot of great plays and great moments.

Randon Fontenette...I am proud to say it....I called it in spring ball....he is a real star....an amazing football player.

Kudos to the STUDENTS!!!

This might have been mentioned in other threads, but we can't praise these students enough!

The were absolutely on top of their game. They showed up early, they packed the Bank, they were loud, they inspired the team and miraculously equated the massive tide crowd, they storm the field and rip down the goal post, then they collectively take the damn thing right down the middle of Broadway and get VU on media outlets that wouldn't have been otherwise.

Looking at the replay and the excitement after the game, if you didn't know Alabama out numbered us, the students made it look like the whole Vandy fan base was pouring onto the field... they were great, beyond great and have a partial claim to the win.

Also the screen when Pavia says "where is my family""where is my family" and the jubilation that followed was just the best, and the end of the game to the goal post scene was the best 5 minutes of vu footballs modern history.

The Vanderbilt students are legends!!!!!

Alabama post game presser…

I was a little surprised
DeBoer didn’t once say “credit to Vanderbilt” or some derivative thereof. Usually you hear a losing coach say “credit to the other team; they made the plays they needed to make and we didn’t”. But not here. It was all about what Bama didn’t do versus what Vanderbilt did do. Clark in his post game presser went out of his way to say what a good football team bama was, which is true. Figured DeBoer would’ve said that we were a good football team, too.

Kentucky

Cats open as a 13:5 point favorite and coming off a bye week

They are big and stout on both sides in the trenches and it will be tough for Vandy to run on them

their QB from Ga is big strong who throws and runs well. They held Ga to no TD’s and could have easily won the game

This will be a much different test than Alabama.
Will be interested to see how they hold up

Interesting field rushing fine trivia

From the attached article:
- VU will be fined $100k
- The fine will go to the Alabama - basically we paid Bama for the natural consequence of beating them.
- Every Bama road loss since 2010 has come with a field rushing fine for the home team. 8 times, the most in the league.
- Kentucky, no surprise, leads in opponent court rushing fines - 7 times.
- This is the sixth time VU has paid a fine, the most in the conference. $730k worth
- The fine amount is $250k for a second offense, then $500k for the third and any subsequent offenses.
- The first monetary fine rule was put in place in 2004, and had increasing amounts. In 2015 and 2023 rules were redone and the fine amounts reset.
- The Alabama AD thinks the fine should be replaced with forfeit of the game just won. Like that will ever happen.
- Alabama, Georgia, and MissSt are the only schools never to have paid fines. VU and UK have paid 6, Arkansas, LSU and USC 5 each.
