Wiping the floor

I did not want to post this last night but they have to have the student managers be responsible for wiping the floor. It is not fair to the young ball boys. It is a lot of responsibility. Wet floor almost cost us the game last night. It almost injured one or more of our players. Let the young ball boys hand out balls at half time and give the refs water. They should not have this responsibility

Florida on Saturday

Very interesting game. Florida got blown out by Bama last night, how will they respond? Florida is one game ahead of Vandy in overall record and SEC record, so pretty big matchup from a standings point. Win this one and you’ve got a chance to be 7-6 heading into the final 5 with some winnable games. Vandy certainly has the horses to keep Castleton in check, but can Robbins stay out of foul trouble? This is a big litmus test for Stack for me. Is the win an outlier, or can he stack them? We’ll see.

Just a few short thoughts on last few minutes

The good:

Big clutch FTs by Colin Smith. Tie game under 4 minutes to go 3 for 3 is huge. Can help him going forward too.

Stacks emotion and you could hear how happy he was more for the players and university all though he was happy too for himself too as he should be.

The bad:

Stack not calling timeout there with under 5 minutes. I don’t want him to turn into Drew and use all his timeouts in the first half but he doesn’t have to always have 3 time outs left with under 1 minute to go. A happy medium would be nice.

Stute - tough night he’s got to find his confidence at Memorial.

The Great:
Robbins all game

Wright 2nd half (when it looked like TN was gaining control he stepped up big time)

Manjon - and WHAT A PASS. He’s such a weapon with his quickness (we won’t talk about his 3 point shot). Again hard to tell you how good that pass was

Lawerence - overall good gsme and of course what a clutch clutch shot. You know he earlier in the year want shooting FTs well unless it was at end where he seems to always make them, is he becoming a really clutch player. I kind of think so.

Norwood’s Home Run

I saw this moment pop up a lot in the previous thread, and I was curious. Where did you all experience Norwood’s home run/the first VandyBoys National Championship?

I was on vacation in Mexico, so they barely got any of the ESPN channels and my cell service was bad. I was watching the 8th inning in the hotel lounge, and they said they had to change the channel for karaoke night and kicked us out.

My family and I SPRINTED across the hotel to find another tv (there were no tvs in our room) and found one just in time to watch Johnny Norwood’s home run and the natty.

A similar game

Goheen's buzzer beater against Georgia. The Dogs blow a slam dunk that would have iced the game. Booker races down court and passes to Goheen just before absolutely bowling over a Georgia defender who had his feet planted (no call). Goheen passes up the game tying shot to step back and drill a three to win it at the buzzer. Jubilation. But not as much as last night because that was Georgia, and this was UT.

Tyrin ‘Volslayer’ Lannister

Someone said on here recently that Vandy doesn’t have a ‘Go To’ guy…complaining that nobody on the roster is a walking bucket.

Tyrin ‘Volslayer’ Lannister has 4 games of 18+ points in the last 7 games, where’s he’s averaging 15 PPG (up from 11 PPG total on the season).

It definitely helps when Filet is carving up the D and Robbins is flexing, but Lawrence has been every bit the realized X-Factor of late. He and Manjon have clearly been clicking in practice and seem to feed off each other’s energy.

Lannisters always pay their debts. The Lion has awakened 🦁

Man possessed

You could see Robbins was turnt’ (or krunk if you will :) from the moment he stepped on the floor. Heck you could see it in his pre-game media availability.

That’s the biggest change, IMO, in Robbins this year. His confidence / toughness / aggressiveness. I’m sure being healthier has something to do with it (although he is coming off a recent injury), but I think one has to attribute much of that change to Stack and his staff. Whatever the reason, I sure am enjoying watching him play for the black and gold.
