Music City Ruck March on July 14th

The VandyBoys Salute to Service 5k was cancelled this year due to the ongoing construction according to an email I received recently.

That same email provided details of the Music City Ruck March on July 14th.

Memories of Honor link:

As with the VandyBoys Salute to Service 5k last year, every participant will be given a bib containing the name of a fallen service member.

Those who say members of the armed forces are just doing their jobs are liars.
Members of the armed forces are volunteers serving their country by choice.
Thank you to all of those in the armed forces.

Patience is a virtue

We have the best HC in the country. He has more baseball knowledge in his pinky finger than all the rest of us combined. A structure is needed whereby our coaching staff can do their thing with the confidence that the resources will be available. They will be.Full stop. The challenge is not to grab all the big names available. The mission is to get the players you need that are compatible with your culture and locker room. Kids who project to graduate at Vandy but who can compete with SEC athletes who may struggle to write their own signatures. That is the challenge. Resources may have been an issue in the past.No longer. We can and will compete with the best. And our journeys to Omaha are not finished. Not by a long shot.

Seeking content and podcast sponsors--it's short but please read

Luke and I made an announcement on the podcast yesterday, and judging from the responses, some of you probably heard it, some of you probably didn't, or some of you tuned it out before we were finished (in which case you missed some important parts). Anyway...

I am at the point where I'm working just about all the time, even though less of it is here. Between life's circumstances and that, it's limited what I am do.

At the same time, I take a great deal of pride in what we have created. It's a part of people's lives. We've had some people posting here for 20 years. We've probably put 40,000 hours into the site and the podcast. And I would hate to see that just go to waste. But we need help to maintain the standard of coverage we've provided most of the time (and ideally increase that) and that's just impossible to do right now.

And what I would like to do is pay Joey to work here 12 months a year, part time while he is in school, and then I have another person I'd like to hire part-time to help in addition to that. I'll keep that person's name private for now but it's a hire that would excite people.

To help fund this, we would like to create post-game shows, probably call-in shows, for football, baseball and basketball. What we can do will vary on what people will pay to support.

That in turn would help fund some extra written content--all three sports we cover, extra recruiting coverage, more podcasts, a budget for us to travel to Omaha, for road football games--that kind of stuff.

Or if you have an appetite to see something covered--men's golf, women's hoops, whatever--we'll consider that too if someone wants to underwrite it.

This would be a win-win for everybody but we can't do it without help. I would in turn make that sponsored content free so that we could reach a larger audience and serve a portion of the fan base that perhaps cannot

We are seeking sponsors who will help make this happen. Or if you can't be a sponsor, but would like to PLEDGE an amount to help towards that, we'll take that also.

I put "PLEDGE" in caps. I do not want to take any money from anyone right now. I do not want to take a penny from anyone until I know I can put it back into the product. And so I want to spend the summer seeing what people have the appetite to fund and then decide what we can realistically do. This is about using a community to create some fun, cool things that we can't do on our own, to dream together on that a bit, and maybe that haven't been tried before, and also to creating a path to having permanent stability and future opportunities, and specifically for Joey and people like him.

If you have interest in helping us, please reach out to @Lukewyatt who is helping me with this.

And as always, thank you to all of you for your support.

There’s some cool stuff/info on Barton Malow website about the facilities. If you scroll down it has a drone dashboard that shows construction and a site overview animation that shows how the basketball practice facility will go up.
