A group that represents the “voice of the fan,” council members participate in quarterly meetings with members of the athletics staff to provide feedback and suggestions, in particular the focus areas of stakeholder engagement and fan experience.

Baseball Quick baseball portal update

- As most of you know by now, the Chase Burns ship sailed as he went to Wake.
- Also not a surprise if you've followed this year, but I'm told Vanderbilt will be a player for Stanford OF Braden Montgomery. He's a two-way guy and a potential top-10 pick in next year's draft, though the pitching part didn't go well for him this year.
- I had referenced another potential portal player; got the name on the condition I'd keep that to myself but that ship is probably going to sail for nothing having to do with Vanderbilt.
- Their activity in the portal is generally clandestine so I wouldn't rule out them being involved in other guys where few know.

That's not a huge update but wanted everyone to have the courtesy of knowing what I know at the moment.

Vandy United Permit(s) update

I took a look at the Nashville permit site this morning and have a few updates. The visiting football locker room officially received its permit about a month ago. I have the set of drawings if anyone is interested.

I still can’t find the drawings for the South Endzone but I know it’s in for permit as I found one overall plan sheet that has a submittal date of 1/27 for the permit set on the title block. To me that means the city is still reviewing and making comments. I believe they are doing the same thing as they did for the basketball facility and that is getting an early foundation permit before a building permit.

I don’t think the basketball facility has obtained its above ground permit yet but that isn’t a cause for concern as the foundations will take awhile.

I think construction on the “power plant” is going to start soon as well as I found a permit for the job trailer.

RB room

After rewatching our spring game. I’m honestly not too concerned about RB I’d be more worried about the TE. Sure we don’t have a superstar RB but Chase G and Alexander are really good decently physical backs with ok speed . Sure we wish Smith would return to his freshman hype because he has the sec speed but I think the other two could provide good play time

Vanderbilt Takeover day on ESPN

Starts tonight and runs through tomorrow night. Highlight games from the past years. Looks like a pretty good lineup.

Vanderbilt's network takeover will begin at midnight ET on Friday with the men’s basketball victory over Kentucky in the SEC Tournament and will conclude at 9 p.m. ET with the baseball team’s SEC championship win over Texas A&M. The Commodores will also feature games from their football, bowling, women’s basketball and soccer teams throughout the day.

FB Recruiting In-state WR Donovan Higgins details interest in Vanderbilt

The Commodores jumped into the mix for in-state wide receiver target Donovan Higgins, an intriguing recruit out of Pearl-Cohn (Tenn.) in the class of 2025.

The 6-foot-0, 183-pound wide receiver out of Nashville, TN. sat down with VandySportsDotCom to go in-depth on his interest in the Commodores, revealing how it felt to pick up his first D1 offer from an SEC program.

"It feels kind of surreal to be honest," Higgins said. "I thought my first offer would be from a school like Bethel or UT-Martin. I wasn't expecting my first offer to be from a SEC school. The Commodores have been involved in my recruitment since June 14th."

Higgins said that he connected with Vanderbilt assistant coach and receivers coach Alex Bailey and liked all of the new techniques he taught.

"I talked to the receivers coach," Higgins said. "And I liked the new techniques he taught me, like how to track deep balls and how to cut on different routes."

Higgins said that he's eager to learn more about the Commodores' program and his planning on stopping by West End for a visit sometime in the future. He added that he's in the process of getting something set up with Vanderbilt and has no other visits scheduled.

"I'm excited to learn more about the Commodores' program," Higgins said. "I'm also very open to learning about other programs as well. I do plan on stopping by for a visit soon."

In addition to the opportunity from Vanderbilt, Higgins has also collected an offer from Tennessee.

Lessons from MLB Draft

Looking at which committed players signed and will not become a Vandyboy is educational. The top 200 rated high school prospects rated by Perfeck Game appear to be at most risk. The Vandy signees were rated as follows;
Clark #2
White #5
Lombard #16
Clemmey #24
Holcomb #38
McElvain #49
Kozeal #115
Hamilton #139
Kranzler #140
Schulz #198
The top four signees, all top 25, appear to be very difficult to get thru the draft and this year all appear lost. The next 25 are at risk of being signed and we were lucky to get them thru. The remaining prospects from 50 to 200 can be taken by a particular team if it has enough money saved on the higher picks and can talk the player into skip college.
