Where we are

Stack’s post game comments last night, to me, were clear indicators he already knows his coaching days at Vandy are over. He was laying the ground work for a soft and respectful parting.

So - let’s consider the possibility AD CSL has been working behind the scenes, with Stack’s knowledge, to line up the next coach. And that she has landed / is finalizing everything to land one we mostly agree is top tier.

IF that happens - will those of US who are screaming for her head congratulate her? Better yet, change our opinions? For me, the answer is maybe, somewhat. Would definitely be a very strong step in the right direction.

The thing is, there is hope until there is not. There has to be. Otherwise, why in the world would we be HERE?

SEC season

With all the Stackhouse stuff, don't forget it's SEC time for baseball. Vandy fans must fill the Hawk this weekend for Auburn. The weather should be fine. Friday maybe a little questionable depending on when the rain moves out, but rain gear is allowed! Fans (including me) have been moaning about losing since September. Let's get behind a winner. Anchor Down VandyBoys!

Baseball Does anyone miss Stallings yet?

David Williams was crowned king for striking a deal to get Kevin out of town after an NCAAT First Four loss.

Since then, the program has literally tanked. The coaching isn’t anywhere near CKS’s level and the recruiting has been worse other than Garland falling in our lap.

We didn’t switch defenses once all night and we took two timeouts home with us from Phoenix. Poor coaching and execution all night long.

Basketball Thinking Out Loud

Just thinking about all this and it’s just hard to come to a solid conclusion.

First, we had Chris reporting early in the year that it was going to take a disaster for them to make a change. Well, Stack is 9-22, has no 2025 recruits, the fan support is worse than it’s ever been and the AD is under immense pressure to fire him. That sounds like a disaster to me.

Then, Chris starts to feel a little more positive about a change happening around mid-February and all the pieces seem to be aligning as the season is a lost cause. As we get closer and closer to the end of the regular season, Chris now is not confident in a change happening and feels the plan is to keep him, but no one truly knows. This isn’t a shot at Chris by the way, he tells us what he hears and that’s all he can do and he’s great at his job.

What doesn’t add up to me is the silence from everyone. Nothing from Candice. Nothing from Stack. Not a single 2025 commitment or visitor, no talk about the portal, no talk about rebuilding in his press conferences, nothing. Just silence. On the other hand, you have the opposite of silence from the fanbase. They are making their opinion known loud and clear whether that’s on here, twitter, or through emails. All of a sudden the day of the SEC Tournament, Candice starts answering fans emails? Big coincidence if you ask me. Not sure why she’d take the time to do that if she knew she was about to piss them off even more. We’ll see what happens. Thanks for reading my rant if you got this far lol.

TLDR: None of this adds up to me and the vibe feels like he’s getting fired

Bottom Line: Stack or CSL

Either Stackhouse or Candace Storey Lee must be fired after this season. I don't see how both of them can return.

If CSL signed Stack to the most outrageous, unnecessary contract extension in collegiate basketball history, then she needs to be let go for that level of profligacy.

Or Stackhouse in his 5th year produced yet another one of the worst, most ignominious seasons in Vanderbilt basketball history. On top of the others that were already atrocious.

Women’s Hoops - Yesterday did VU no favors at all.

How crazy is sports. Just 2 wks ago, Gonzaga beat Portland 90-40. Yes, that’s right by 50 points on Feb 28th. Yesterday in the WCC championship game Portland beat the Zags by 1 point.

The Zags are safely in the field and thus Portland is a bid stealer. This isn’t good news for VU.

Also IA St loss in the championship to Texas. Not a biggie but might of helped VU a bit if they could of won. They had went from 35 to 31 with their previous victory. Today they dropped to 33 in the NET.
