Football Northwestern Football

Northwestern is slated to start Mike Wright at quarterback Saturday against Miami (Ohio), sources told ESPN, making it the third power conference program where he has been a starter.

Wright played at Mississippi State in 2023 and Vanderbilt from 2020 to 2022 prior to arriving at Northwestern.

Off topic Shout out to Vandysports staff

Before the season starts and things go in whatever direction they go, just wanted to express thanks to you guys for the preseason coverage. Between the podcasts, practice reports, and articles, this has been the most in-depth coverage that I can remember. Hopefully, our community will be rewarded with an exciting season to follow.

Thanks again to you and the sponsors for making this happen.

Excited for today

Despite my recent negativity regarding the sellout, and other aspects of the offseason. I am stoked to be back in the stands for today. I feel like today’s game is very similar to the KSU game a few years back. Really will set the tone for the season, and should be a good litmus test to see how we do against UK, USC, Mizzou, and other low to mid tier SEC opponents. Optimistic about Clark running the defense, completely unaware of how the offense will do. Which in itself is exciting.

Anchor Down!

This one is daunting

Watching some VT highlights this AM has me feeling queasy. Dynamic QB and four graduate WRs. Returning starters everywhere.

I'd feel better if our top two transfer corners weren't out for the season. We're going to need solid play from corners and safeties can't let them get deep bc they're going to try.

I'm still going to the game and have an open mind bc I don't know what to expect from Vandy.

But for whatever it's worth, after watching VT a bit, I'd say it's the classic "we need turnovers and a special teams big play" to have a shot at a win.
