HC. He could be potentially in the future but he is too far in the hole for this stint at VU and didn’t know (doesn’t know) what he is doing. Not saying he can’t get it together one day. He needed to go be a HC at a FCS and then a G5 school to learn the ropes. Kind of like Cignetti. Needed to have this learning curve at a Murray State or Elon or SEMO and after 3-5yrs move on to a Southern Miss or an Old Dominion.
As it stands he will have to turn over the staff top-to-bottom. Everyone….or damn near everyone. He will then have to start winning football games in 2024. Somehow, someway he will have to win at least 5 games next season. He focused too much on “interpersonal polish” and too little on scheme, coordinators, motivation techniques, strength+conditioning and player development. The environment is also changing and he would have been better suited to handle this layer and learn at smaller programs.
We are not beating Georgia State next season for that 2nd win of the season they are similar to UNLV and we saw how that went. SMU and VT will spank us. The QB duo of MJ Morris and Walter Taylor….1-11 with a win over Norfolk St. What am I missing?
