Per a VU press release just now:

NASHVILLE –The Vanderbilt women’s basketball team and head coach Stephanie White added two local products as Brinae Alexander (Murfreesboro, Tenn./Riverdale) and Jordyn Cambridge (Nashville, Tenn./Ensworth) inked National Letters of Intent on the first day of the early signing period on Wednesday.

For the second consecutive year, the Commodores have signed a top-20 class as Alexander and Cambridge combine to form the No. 18 class in the country. Vanderbilt also signs one of the top four classes in the SEC joining Tennessee, Mississippi State and Auburn as the top classes in the league.

“We’re really excited about the additions of Jordyn Cambridge and Brinae Alexander to our program,” said White. “First and foremost being able to keep local talent home is really important to us. These are two high character people that come in with great basketball pedigree and academically are up to the challenge. They will help make our team better immediately.”

Alexander, who preps at Riverdale HS in Murfreesboro, is a 5-10 forward who can stretch the floor as a perimeter shooter while also being able to use her size to score around the rim and post up smaller defenders. The combo-guard is able to put pressure on defenses and is a versatile offensive threat, while filling the stat sheet. The three-year starter helped lead Riverdale to a Class AAA state championship and USA TODAY national championship while averaging 15.6 points and 5.6 rebounds. After leading Riverdale to the state championship, Alexander earned Tennessee Sports Writer Association Class AAA all-state honors as a junior. Alexander is the No. 51 player in the 2018 class according to ESPNHoopGurlz and is the No. 14 player in her position.

“Brinae is a player that we’re going to be able to utilize in different ways, she’s very versatile,” said White. “She can play positions 1-4, she tough, she’s hard-nosed. One of the things I love most about her is the way she competes. She competes with joy and passion for the game. With her, every single possession matters and we need that mentality She’s going to fit into our system perfectly with her versatility, her ball handling and ability to knock down shots.”

Cambridge helped lead Nashville’s Ensworth to the Division II-AA state championship this past season and was a DII-AA Miss Basketball finalist. Cambridge averaged 14.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists for Ensworth in the regular season as a junior. Cambridge, a point guard, has the ability to handle, distribute and knock down the mid-range jumper at a high level and is one of the few pure point guards in the 2018 class. Cambridge, the No. 23 prospect according to ESPNHoopGurlz is the No. 4 guard in the class and is a three-time Tennessee Sports Writers Association Division II all-state selection.

“Jordyn Cambridge is definitely a coach on the floor,” said White. “She can make plays for herself and for others. Her skill set really fits our system being able to get up and down the floor and having some open space to operate in. She a great defender too and she’s one of those guards I think we can play in multiple positions.”

Both players are ESPNHoopGurlz five-star players and apart of ESPN’s top 100 players in the class of 2018 with Cambridge checking in at No. 23 and Alexander at No. 51. According to Prospects Nation, the duo combines to form the No. 24 class in nation, with Alexander ranking as the No. 59 player and Cambridge ranking as the No. 73 player.

Neither Alexander nor Cambridge are strangers, as the Tennessee natives have been playing basketball together since they were young. The pair verbally committed to the Commodores at the same time last spring and took their official visits together.
