Lots of options ranging from time of possession, third down conversion rate, penalties and so on. But imo, vandy’s success will be determined by LSU’s front 7. Will they be disciplined and not bite on the eye candy. LSU has superior talent in the front 7 to Vandy’s oline/talent. But if you aren’t focused on your job, and taking the bait, the talent starts having their heads spin. We have not seen that happen since Alabama. Kentucky/auburn/Cocks/texas prepared well, and had their fronts ready to play our system. LSU is in a spiral, if they aren’t getting quality reps at practice with all the distractions and coaches looking to jump ship, their talent advantage will be eliminated. Mesh/option offenses aren’t some kind of magic system that DC’s can’t scheme for or figure out the secret to how to stop. If anything the simplicity of the system behind smoke and mirrors is what makes it useable for Vandy. It requires the opponent to play fundamental assignments and not play hero ball. Hard task with this generation of athletes. I think the odds are high Vandy will get LSU’s head spinning on field and finger pointing on the sidelines.
If Vandy’s secondary continues to be strong at crashing the underneath routes and the LBs move laterally well in coverage, the defense will have their standard performance.
Dores 27- LSU 23.
