Every time I check the weather report it seems to get worse. The same is true for Knoxville for the UT-Auburn series.
What happened to all the perfectly beautiful weather days we've had lately?
I'd rather we get canceled tonight instead of starting and then getting delayed, thus potentially blowing our starting pitcher out of the game.
Last time I remember that happening was 2011, game 1 vs. Florida, first weekend in May. Sonny Gray was rolling and the Gators were going down easily. Then it started to rain. Sonny couldn't come back when the rain cleared and we went on to lose that game, which cost us the series. It also cost us the SEC Championship (tennis ball technical #2.) We ended up in a 3-way tie with Florida and South Carolina instead.
That game also changed the post-season.
We were given a #6 national seed and Florida got the #2 seed mostly based on their series win over us. Which then put us in the same CWS bracket.
But we couldn't beat Florida again no matter how hard we tried. Grayson Garvin threw ONE bad pitch in our first game with Florida, resulting in a 3-run HR and a 3-1 loss (a game also interrupted by a torrential downpour; game started Monday afternoon, ended Tuesday morning.)
We then beat NC for a second time and faced Florida yet again on Friday. Sonny started but wasn't his usual sharp self and we lost to them yet again, thus ending our season.
I was there for all of the CWS goings on, I think @Unabridged was, too, and probably several other vs.com brethren (ladies, too, for that matter. I'm not sure if the word "brethren" can include women, but I don't want to leave them out because, without them, none of us would be here.)
If only it hadn't rained in Nashville in early May on a Friday night.
