While we all agonize and pontificate over our MBB search, our baseball guys had a good weekend.

We are back to #2 in the d1baseball rankings behind #1 Florida who had an even better weekend by sweeping former #1 Texas A&M.

As usual, 5 of the top 8 are SEC teams. (5-MSU, 6-A&M, 8-SC, LSU is #15)

Using current rankings, our schedule includes:
3 games with #1 (away in May)
1 game with #4 (home in May)
3 games with #5 (won 1, lost 2)
3 games with #6 (away in May)
3 games with #8 (won 2, lost 1)
3 games with #15 (away in April)
3 games with #21 (home in April)

May will obviously be a crucial month for us -- @A&M, Louisville, @Florida, all in a row from May 5-15

Here's another stat with regard to our lineup's OBP:
Coleman .354
Kendall .415
Reynolds .436
Jones .393
Delay .329
Toffey .444
Paul .488
Murfee .422
Campbell .354
Team .398

You'll obviously win a lot of games when, as a team, you get on base 40% of your at bats. That goes to 42% if you just include starters.

Our pitching ain't shabby either:
Sheffield 4-1 2.27 era b/abg .202
Wright 4-1 1.60 era b/avg .246

I'd like to see Raby get a shot at the Sunday starter role, which would add:
Raby 3-0 1.99 era b/avg .199
as opposed to
Stone 0-1 3.44 era b/avg .161

Stone's BB's are still his bugaboo. He's only allowed 10 hits in 18.1 innings, but 8 earned runs, most of which were guys that got on base via the walk (in Sat's game, 3 of the 4 SC runs reached base on a walk.) He's yielded 12 walks, 3 wild pitches, and 3 hit batters. That adds up to 18 vs. only 10 hits.

We have a team fielding percentage of .977, which is very good. Unfortunately, the errors we do make are killers -- 20% of the runs allowed overall were unearned. Kyle Wright has been the chief victim of this, as 40% of the runs off him were unearned.

Next objective: win the series at LSU.
