The regular season has come to an end for many of these VandyBoys. Starting next week the only players that you will be getting reports on will be Dansby Swanson and Walker Buehler. Hope you all are still enjoying this series!!

Commodore legend David Price had successful wrist surgery to remove a cyst. Price’s forgettable 2019 season ends with a 7-5 record, a 4.28 ERA, 128 strikeouts in 107.1 innings pitched.

Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson had his best week offensively since coming off the IL. The VandyBoy batted .300 for the week with a career high four hit performance on Wednesday night versus the Kansas City Royals. Swanson ends the regular season with a career best .251 ERA, seventeen home runs, and 65 RBI. He will look to ride this wave of momentum into the National League Divisional Series versus the St. Louis Cardinals.

Sonny Gray took the ball for the final time in 2019 on Tuesday versus the Milwaukee Brewers. The VandyBoy threw five innings of three hit three run baseball walking two and striking out six. Unfortunately for Gray, he took the loss. Gray’s bounce back 2019 season comes to a conclusion with a 11-8 record, a 2.87 ERA, 175.1 innings pitched, and 205 strikeouts.

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Mike Minor was the source of some controversy following his Thursday start versus the Boston Red Sox. The VandyBoy worked eight and two thirds innings, allowing ten hits and five runs with two walks and nine strikeouts. However that tenth strikeout caused controversy. Needing one strikeout to reach 200 for the season, first baseman Ronald Guzman allowed a routine foul ball to drop giving Minor another chance to strike the batter out, which he was able to do. Minor went on to pick up the win and ends the 2019 season with a 14-10 record, 3.59 ERA, 208.1 innings pitched and 200 strikeouts.

VandyBoy Walker Buehler made his final start of the regular season on Friday versus the San Francisco Giants. The Lexington, Kentucky native threw five innings of five hit two run baseball, adding four walks and eight punch outs. Buehler ends the regular season 14-4 record, 3.80 ERA, 182.1 innings pitched, and 215 strikeouts. Buehler and the Dodgers will now turn their attention to the National League Divisional Series where they will face the winner of the Washington Nationals and Milwaukee Brewers National League wildcard game. Buehler also joins VandyBoys Sonny Gray and Mike Minor in the 200 strikeout club.

Pittsburgh Pirates rookie sensation Bryan Reynolds had a very cold final week of the regular season as he only hit .160. However the VandyBoy can take solace in the fact that he had one of the best rookie seasons in recent history and might have been the leader for National League rookie of the year if not for the Mets Pete Alonso. The Brentwood, Tennessee native’s final line for the 2019 campaign stands at .314 with sixteen home runs and 68 RBI. Reynolds average is the highest by a Pittsburgh Pirates rookie switch hitter since 1896.

Mike Yastrzemski ended his rookie season with a solid week for the San Fransisco Giants. The VandyBoy hit .269 with one home run. “Yaz” concludes his breakout rookie campaign with a .272 average, 21 home runs, and 55 RBI.

Fellow San Fransisco Giant Tyler Beede made his final start of the 2019 season Thursday versus the Colorado Rockies. The VandyBoy was cruising through three and one thirds innings of no hit, seven strikeout baseball. Following that seventh punch out, Beede began to favor his left side and was removed from the game. He was later diagnosed with a left oblique injury. The Worcester, Massachusetts native’s 2019 season comes to an end with a 5-10 record, a 5.08 ERA, 117 innings pitched, and 113 strikeouts. Beede looked very impressive toward the end of the season. Look for him to once again push for a rotation spot for the Giants in 2020.

Reserve Cincinnati Reds catcher Curt Casali batted .214 in the past week and closes his 2019 campaign with a .251 average, eight home runs, and 32 RBI.

VandyBoy Tony Kemp hit .222 with a home run during the final week of the regular season. The reserve utility man ended his season with a .212 average, eight home runs, and 29 RBI. Kemp saw action at second base, left field, right field, and center field throughout the 2019 season.

Kyle Wright saw no action during the final week of the regular season for the Atlanta Braves. Don’t expect Wright to make the playoff roster for the Braves. In the games he played in the MLB, Wright went 0-3, with a 8.69 ERA, with 18 strikeouts in nineteen and two thirds innings pitched. Expect Wright to start the 2020 season at the AAA level.

“Filthy” Carson Fulmer pitched one inning in Tuesday’s game versus the Cleveland Indians. The Chicago White Sox relief pitcher was roughed up for four runs on two walks and just two hits. The VandyBoy did add a strikeout. Fulmer finishes the 2019 season with a 1-2 record, a 6.26 ERA, and 25 strikeouts in 27.1 innings pitched.

Veteran utility man Ryan Flaherty batted a nice .286 as the Cleveland Indians concluded their 2019 season. In just 21 at bats at the MLB level in 2019, “Flash” only hit for a .143 average with no home runs and just one RBI.

Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Drew VerHagen threw four and one thirds innings of four hit three run baseball Wednesday versus the Minnesota Twins. “Dutch” issued two free passes and punched out two Twins batters. The Royse City, Texas native concludes his 2019 season with a 4-3 record, a 5.90 ERA, and 51 strikeouts in 58 innings pitched.

Sam Selman worked in all seven games during the past week, only allowing three runs on four hits, with four walks and eight strikeouts. The San Fransisco Giants rookie ends his rookie season with a 0-0 record, with ten strikeouts, in ten innings pitched. And I believe that it is safe to say that the Giants love their VandyBoys!!

Los Angeles Dodgers farmhand Jeren Kendall continues to rake in the Arizona Fall League with a .367 average and one home run for the Glendale Desert Dogs.

Pittsburgh Pirates farmhand Jason Delay is batting .250 in the Arizona Fall League for the Peoria Javelinas.
