Some members of this site think if Vanderbilt hires a new super coach and builds a new stadium we can compete at a high level in the SEC. That belief is not realistic with the disadvantages we face in football. We are not a state school with a state wide fan base. We have a small student body compared to the other SEC teams. We don’t have a state legislature to bail us out when we need assistance with additional funds to compete. Our graduates do not stay in our market area in large numbers. The administration is not going to let the coaches recruit illiterate super athletes from Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana just because they help us win. In my opinion considering these facts we need to be realistic with our expectations.
