An announced crowd of 27,932 watched UAB’s 35-3 demolition of South Alabama on Saturday afternoon at Birmingham’s Legion Field.
Today’s attendance was higher than the average home crowd – 24,291 – during the 2018 season, but smaller than the 39,165 that attended the season opener against Alabama A&M. Today’s crowd was close to the largest 2018 home crowd of 28,014 against North Texas.
“Yeah, it was a great day for a football game and our fans showed up to support us," UAB coach Bill Clark said. "Really grateful for their support. It’s definitely helped us keep this home-winning streak going.”
The UAB Blazers cruised to a 35-3 win over South Alabama in the two programs' first meeting at Legion Field in Birmingham.
In 2017, UAB drew 158,252 fans to Legion Field for The Return season’s six home games, an average of 26,375. The Blazers drew 145,747 fans in 2018, an average of 24,291 in six home games.
So far this season, UAB has drawn more than 67,000 fans to Legion Field in two games.
