Vandy baseball tweeted out that there would be a scrimmage today at 11:20 so I headed over with my son (age 5 we stayed 4 innings) and I figured I would do a post about what I saw.

- Bowden started for the white team and Ruppenthal started for the black team and both went 3 innings. Bowden looked good striking out 4 in 3 innings. No surprises here but the ball really popped in the catcher's mitt. The one bad pitch he made ended up as a HR by FR Julian Infante. It was nice blast into the LF seats. One of the best battles was Bowden vs. Bryan on an AB that must have gone 12 pitches with Bowden finally strking Bryan out. Ruppenthal looked good too, striking out 2 and giving up 2 hits and no runs. The hits were a single by Ro and a double by Tyler Green.

- In the 4th inning, Raby pitched for the white team and Steele pitched for the black team. Raby gave up 1 run, on an RBI single by Chari scoring Delay. Steele have up no runs no hits and struck out 2.

- There were about 25 in attendance - 6 scouts and 19 fans. My son enjoyed seeing the scouts pull out their guns at the start of the game.

- I did get to see Zo Jones run, but he was thrown out on a grounder. He struck out in his other AB vs. Bowd4en.

Here were the lineups. I'm sorry that I don't know the position of each player.

Black
1 Bryan, 2 Zo Jones, 3 Delay, 4 Infante, 5 Chari, 6 Sabino, 7 Murfee, 8 Grisanti, 9 Kaiser
White
1 Ro, 2 Rogers, 3 Toffey, 4 Smith, 5 Ellison, 6 Scott, 7 Green, 8 Campbell, 9 Paul, PH Fentress

I'm going to try to get over there for more of these - it's definitely fun to watch. One other thing, Hayden Stone was out there. He didn't throw or anything but he had his glove on, no sleeve.
