Theory on running game woes

So here it is: I love the way Shurmur has progressed as a QB, both as a leader and a passer, but one thing that opposing defenses don't have to account for is his mobility. If you look at the landscape of football in the SEC, most teams have a QB that can run, either as a designed read or when things break down. Shurmur is a pure pocket passer, and I wonder if this allows defenses to better align themselves and scheme to stop the run when they don't have to account for the QB's legs beating them. I know there are other factors here, and many have pointed to the OLine and play calling for our running game ills. This is just a thought, and I would be interested in others' takes.
