Turnovers lost the LSU game for Vandy on Sunday, and they have been a cotinuing problem for years now. In fairness to CSW, our hopes for a good season were pinned largely to a healthy redshirt senior point guard in Minta Spears. Minta had injury problems and didn't play much until the last quarter of the season, and she doesn't look as mobile as she did last year. So we had to go with a freshman point. The candidates were Ciera Walker and Clemons Green. Ciera got better and better with playing time , but unfortunately she got hurt, too, and has been a non factor for much of the SEC schedule. Clemons Green has potential, but she just hasn't adjusted to the speed of the college game yet, and she has been a turnover machine. There really was nowhere else to turn for a point guard. Next year if Cierra is healthy, she will make a big difference. Also, we have an elite point guard coming in with next year's class in Chelsie Hall ( ranked 34rth overall in Prospect Nations's top 100). And all of the freshmen that played so much this season will be sophomores with the attendant improvement in ball handling that comes with experience. Moreover, they will have a year in Stephanie's system to adapt. All of this to say that the turnover plague that his followed the VU women for the past few years should dissipate considerably next season. I don't think that in itself will return us to the elite of the league, but it will realistically help us shoot for the middle of the pack.
