After watching replay of MFD foul and interview without question this was not the total screw up by MFD it seemed yesterday. CBD was on the sideline yelling and pointing at MFD to pickup his matchup. MFD says "I didn't know the score. I thought we were up [sic] one . Saw Coach Drew pointing at man to tell me my matchup I got confused and fouled."
Three things:
1). No timeouts meant elimination of better communication after Riley's basket.
2). CBD's pointing to McIntosh in such a pressurized environment could have been easily misunderstood.
3). MFD manned up and took responsibility.
Forget about what went before and this was an understandable mistake in a stressful situation which ANY of us could have made. I've got a lot more sympathy toward MFD today and more understanding that CBD unintentionally contributed to MFD's bad decision.
Wish yesterday had not happened but MFD deserves respect for keeping us in the game and forgiveness for a bad decision any one of us might have made in similar circumstances.
