Vanderbilt is set to host their first set of summer official visitors this weekend, hoping to add to their 2023 commitment list which currently stands at four. Here is a breakdown of the expected targets on campus below.
- McBride visited Vanderbilt earlier this spring, picking up an offer from the Commodores during his time on campus. Vandy's staff likes McBride's long and rangy frame and sees him taking up a lot of space in the secondary. The Mobile native was highly-productive on both sides of the ball during his junior season - hauling in 43 catches for 614 yards and 10 touchdowns on offense while totaling 74 tackles, five pass break-ups, and two interceptions on defense. Vanderbilt is his only power five offer right now and he currently has no other official visits scheduled. Out of all the visitors this weekend, McBride is one I would definitely put on commit watch.
VANDY FIRST SEC OFFER FOR MCBRIDE
- White is another secondary target that Vanderbilt is in a very good spot with. The Commodores extended an offer back in early March and both Darrius Darden-Box and Nick Howell have developed a great rapport with both White and his family. The four-star was also highly-productive on both sides of the ball during his junior season - putting up 1,331 all-purpose yards, 61 tackles, eight tackles for loss, five interceptions, and 19 touchdowns. While White told us that Vanderbilt was currently the only official visit he has scheduled last month, Texas Tech is a program to keep an eye on here. White has visited Lubbock four times and Joey McGuire is hauling in a ton of in-state talent for the Red Raiders.
OFFICIAL VISIT PROFILE: ANTHONY WHITE
- Woods is another Texas product that will be in Nashville this weekend. The competition appears to tough as Woods hold offers from the likes of Texas, Texas Tech, Auburn, Baylor, TCU, and Cal. Woods doesn't do hardly any interviews, so it's hard to gauge where he is in his recruiting process, however, he does seem to value academics as he'll be at Vandy this weekend and also has an official scheduled with Cal on June 23rd. This would be a really big get for Vanderbilt considering the talent, the position, and the offer sheet.
- Carlson is one of Vandy's priority in-state targets in this year's class as they've been making a big push for him for well over a year now. The high-level, three-star made a recent trek to West End during the spring. He's also visited the likes of Stanford, Illinois, Purdue, Duke, Wake Forest, and Mississippi State throughout the spring as well. Like Woods, Carlson isn't much for doing interviews, so it's hard to tell where he's leaning. However, he's been to Vanderbilt a ton previously and the Commodores are getting an official visit from him - that obviously bodes well for the hometown program. Carlson recently won state titles in the shot put and discus.
- Swain has had an offer from Vanderbilt since October of last year and visited Vandy previously for a game back in November. While listed as an athlete, Vandy likes the three-star prospect in the secondary. During his junior season, Swain hauled in 55 passes for 855 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He also accounted for 264 total yards as a returner and tallied 28 tackles and six interceptions at safety. Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, and South Carolina are other programs making a push. He has an official scheduled with the Gamecocks on June 24th.
SWAIN SET TO RETURN TO VANDY THIS SUMMER
- Hight has been committed to Louisville since January 31st, but it's clear he's keeping his options open and Vanderbilt will get a chance to sell him on their program this weekend. Listed as an ATH, Hight had a very productive junior season on the offensive side of the ball hauling in 62 passes for 1,069 yards posting nine scores and carried the rock seven times for 105 more yards with another touchdown. However, Louisville likes him as a corner or a safety and Vanderbilt probably feels the same. Hight recently jumped 6'6" in the high jump, that placed him 2nd in his region and Top 10 in the state of Georgia.
