I had the (humble brag coming) pleasure of seeing my only daughter do really well on her first ACT score result today. So I went to check how her score stacked up and what it meant in the college landscape. I was stunned to see that the average ACT score at VU last cycle was a 34.
Let that sink in. The acceptance calculator said my daughter has less than a 10% chance to get in with her current score. I need to vet this info with other sources, but this is a respected website that provided the info. For comparison, UT's average is 27 and Ole Miss is 24 (the lowest of the SEC schools).
What this means for athletics I think could be both good and cause some trouble, and would take a long time to go through. But I never thought I'd worry about us being so selective, both for what it could mean for athletics and for getting my own offspring into VU.
