I just spoke with Marcus Sloan, the coach of the Houston Defenders AAU squad. I'm working on a story on Miller Kopp, who just got a Vanderbilt offer. Sloan is both Kopp's and Maxwell Evans' coach.
He told me that Evans is a warrior and his favorite player ever. He also said of all the players who are coming out of Houston in this class, Evans is the "most ready to play on the college level today." That group includes top 15 player, Jarred Vanderbilt, who is going to Kentucky, and top 75 player, Savion Flagg, who will be a Texas A&M Aggie.
Sloan said the things that will stand out about Evans are his physicality, IQ, and the ability to defend.
