If you appreciate good pitching then this game was not for you.

The starters for both teams were ineffective: Vandy ERA 9.00, UK ERA 9.82
Overall pitching: Vandy ERA 8.00, UK 8.64

Each team had 1 effective reliever and both were “erroneously” pulled after the 8th inning.

It was an offensive explosive by both teams. UK hit an astounding .410 with 6 guys having multiple hits along with 2 HRs.
Vandy hit an astounding (for us) .378 with 3 HRs.

Both teams OBP was .465, almost half of all plate appearances.
We won the OPS battle 1.168 to 1.106 thanks to Vastine.
Both teams’ hitting with RISP was great, our .455 to their .444
We had 58% quality at bats; they had 61%.
Both teams left 9 men on base.
We out-homered them 3-2 which was the ultimate decider.

Of note on pitching, our guys didn’t hit any of their guys after 6 HBP in game 1.
Our pitchers were slightly better with Ks — 9 to 8 — and with walks — 4 to 6.
Importantly, our guys threw 66% first pitch strikes, UK’S only 52%.

Today Vandy throws Cody Bowker while UK counters with Beaver Ben-Cleaver.
With that in mind, which Vandy Boy would be Eddie Haskell and which would be Lumpy? (If Cam Cozeal was still around he’s definitely be Lumpy, don’t you think?)
Clearly, Corbs would be Ward Cleaver and Mingion would be June. Not that Ward and June ever had sex, but if they did, I think it’s what games 1 and 2 could be likened to.

Also of some interest, someone on Twitter/X has the handle "LeaveittoCleaver." I wonder if that's Ben or maybe his dad? Pretty cleaver, though.
