How do we feel about our hitting through 5 games?

We’ve scored:

4
4
9
3
5

And I feel like we’ve done so against some pretty good pitching. So I guess the question is, are we a better hitting team or is it just too early to tell?

1) I think the rule of thumb in baseball is the bats don’t typically warm up until the temperature does.

2) We actually hit the ball hard at GCU and had some bad luck combined with the ball park being a “pitcher’s best friend” type of a park.

3) We get home and play two games in the high 30’s. The body doesn’t move quite like you want it to and the ball doesn’t jump at all.

4) Possibly our best hitter, Brodie Johnston, is hurt and whether he is that guy or not, he should add some pop and quality hitting when he returns.

I can get a little too optimistic about things when it comes to who we have and can they play better but I think we added 3 really quality bats to this lineup, maybe 4 if Mancini comes back healthy.

Rustan Rigdon is a really good looking player. I have a feeling he’s going to make a lot of money playing baseball over the years. Enjoy this young man, VU fans.

Riley Nelson is a guy who I think will provide a consistent bat and glove at first base. I don’t think he’s an All SEC level player but I believe he’s a guy in the middle of the lineup that will produce 15-20 dongs and 50-60 RBIs.

Brodie Johnston - I just want to see him play. Looks like a big strong athletic young man with a really fluid swing who produces more power than you might think. Get healthy, Brodie!

Of the guys that were here last year:

RJ Austin
Vastine
Jayden Davis
Barczi
Holcomb

I feel like all 5 of the above guys can help us win. None are sure things, but all have proven they can produce.

We have several guys that will be fighting for At Bats:

Maldo showed his first signs of life today.

JD Rogers hit a bomb yesterday.

Humphrey was great today and is so good defensively, you can plug him anywhere in the outfield depending on what you need.

Mancini is another wildcard??? Apparently, dude can really hit???

Overall, I think our fanbase is spoiled and impatient considering we haven’t made a Super Regional in 4 years so I just wanted to see what others think about what this team is and if it has potential to be a better hitting team than under the end of the Mile Baxter era?
