JJ Bleday should easily pass Pedro Alvarez for the record of the most home runs in a season by a Vandy player. However, it is very difficult to compare this stat due to all the changes which have occurred to the bats and balls in recent years. The changes have resulted in some unusual years such as the rolled bat era when normal fly balls went over the fences. I think the significance of JJ’s year is that he is beating all other hitters that are using the same equipment as him. I believe he could end up with 30 if he continues his recent pace.
