So, 5 games into the season, here are a few thoughts on relatively new head coaches who were or could have been on Vandy's last short list:
-Mason - jury is still out, but trend is turning positive
-Morris - too soon to evaluate, but hasn't been the wunderkind that some were projecting
-McIlwain - wow - this looks like the guy everybody should have been chasing
-Hudspeth - bad start to the season - stock is trending down
Separately - while I am happy with Andy Ludwig and think he has done a good job making lemonade out of lemons this year, Mike Sanford looks like he would have been a homerun hire if CDM could have reeled him in. ND offense looked like a juggernaut with Malik Zaire, then after Zaire went down, they have continued to produce. While ND lost to Clemson last night, Sanford's offense dominated in the 2nd half.
